It is no secret to say that some of our readers were pretty unimpressed by the Apple iPad unveiling, therefore there seems to be a niche in the market for a tablet PC which rectifies some of the frequent complaints about the iPad’s specifications and features.
Recently specifications for the upcoming HP Slate have shown up on SlashGear, I must say that with better all around hardware and a more functional OS it could prove to be a very popular iPad alternative.
All of the performance hardware within the Slate seems to swamp the iPad’s hardware, the Slate features an Intel Atom Menlow Z530 (1.6GHz) processor. 1GB of DDR2 memory and a range of different flash storage capacities starting at 32GB.
The iPad’s processor is a 1GHz Apple A4 chip, it features an undisclosed amount of memory and flash storage starts at 16GB, in its favor however is 802.11n WiFi connectivity, a resolution of 1024 x 768, longer battery life and a lower starting price ($499.99).
If you check out SlashGear’s article you can see complete details regarding the HP Slate’s specifications and pricing, along with a very useful image comparing the two tablets.
