First iPad Car Install Video: 3G would be better

By Peter Chubb - Apr 6, 2010

The Apple iPad has now been available for a few days now and we have already seen it blended in a blender. However there are some normal things being done with this tablet device, such as the first iPad car install, which you can see in the video below.

We always expected someone to do something special with the iPad – just not this soon. The installation was done by Sound Man Car Audio and was installed in a car dash – with a number of alterations along the way. The iPad had to be connected to a McIntosh amplifier, Audison Bit One D/A converter and an Onkyo ND-S1 Digital Media Transport in order for it to work correctly.

The dash had to be taken out and completely changed as the existing hole was not large enough. However, we have to admit that it was worth all the effort; now the Apple tablet takes center stage in the car and is not the entertainment hub.

We cannot help but think that having the 3G version in the car would be better – he should have waited two weeks. Let us know what you think of this mod below.
