AT&T iPhone Owers: Would You Want a HTC Incredible?

By Jamie Pert - Apr 6, 2010

Over the last few months we have noticed that our American readers have shown a lot of interest in a Verizon iPhone release, however now that the HTC Incredible is on its way to Verizon perhaps we will finally see the tides change.

Many of our readers believe that the biggest thing holding back the iPhone is AT&T’s poor coverage, therefore they have been craving the possible release of a CDMA-based Verizon iPhone to get the best of both worlds, however some experts are predicting that the HTC Incredible could be a better smartphone than the 3GS.

A quick look at the Incredible’s specs reveals just why this handset cannot be ignored, its 3.7 inch AMOLED display with a 480 x 800 resolution far outweighs what the 3GS offers, also the Incredible’s 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and an 8 megapixel camera (with flash) are all also superior.

When it comes to operating systems and applications there is no doubt that the 3GS is better than the upcoming Incredible, however recently Google’s Android OS paired with HTC’s Sense UI has been a popular combination, also the Android Market’s market share has grown and grown.

We are wondering whether there are any AT&T customers out there jealous of the upcoming HTC Incredible, therefore we would like to hear what you have to say in the comments section below, feel free to answer any of the questions below (all of which are aimed at AT&T customers and hypothetically suggest that an AT&T HTC Incredible will soon be available).

Would you choose an AT&T iPhone 3GS over an AT&T HTC Incredible? Would you hold out for the unannounced iPhone 4G rather than buy an AT&T HTC Incredible? Is there a smartphone out there better than the iPhone 3GS and HTC Incredible?

  • I would definity take the htc incredible over the iphone 3gs. I hate iphones proprietary-type everything. I am curinterested in the htc incredible.

I am a big time mac user and iphone user. I really like the iphone and don't have many complaints. I am considering a switch to the incredible mostly for the Verizon network. Even in Florida where ATT network is good, I hardly ever have 3G. I am afraid of the sync of my apple contacts, calendar, music ,etc.

    • Sync your stuff with Google (Gmail/GoogleCalendar) and you can re-sync it with any other smartphone. As far is music is concerned, I dunno how u can get all info from iPhone to other phone

I am greatly considering in switching to Verizon with the HTC incredible. The iPhone 3GS is good, if you can actually use the network. But if AT&T release this phone, I'd stick with AT&T than go through the change of network….

I was told today by an AT&T professional that a version of the HTC Incredible will be available on AT&T in 4-6 weeks. It will be one of four new Android based HTC phones released on AT&T. I went to a Verizon store to see what we can expect and was very impressed by the Incredible. I can't wait to put it against my IPhone (the new one of which is also due out in the next month or two, we hope).

The IPhone hardware is junk and you have to pay to change the battery. With Android phones you have a choice of Mfg.so you can get an Android phone that is quality made.I have the family plan but will try to talk my sons to change to VZN for the HTC Incredible. At&t has the IPhone and is delaying top Android phone because of the Apple relationship.I'm tired of wait. The Incredible has what I was looking for with the Xperia X10 but the Incredible will be here soon with MultiTouch.Looks like bye At&t.

I am due an upgrade with AT&T. They have some HTC phones but nothing like the Incredible. If they bring it aboard, I'm theirs. If not, I may have to change to another company to get the phone I want.

This shouldn't even be the topic. HTC EVO blows the specs of all phones on the market. You can even forget about the 4rth gen iPhone, remured to have a 3.7" screen "yawn" the EVO has a 4.3 inch making the iphone look like a kids toy. Not to mention you also get 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, dual 3G/4G WiMAX connectivity, forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus and 720p HD video recording

IPhone has what coming? 5 megs? OS4.0? Wow

My g/f is on VZW and has been bugging me to switch. We would save like 10 bucks a month going on a family plan, but the lack of a good phone to compete with my 3gs is keeping me on AT&T. I don't have an issue with coverage, in fact VZW doesn't work inside our house, where as AT&T does (spotty, but works). The only thing I can see getting me to switch is the Incredible, which is why I haven't dumped AT&T for VZW. I could get the N1 from AT&T but I'm partial to HTC….. As for the iPhone 4g, an updated phone won't really help if it still lacks true multi-tasking. The 3gs is a good phone, but the lack of multi-tasking (and flash) just doesn't do it justice unless you jailbreak it…..

Been waiting for MONTHS to switch to ANY keyboardless android phone on VZW larger than the Eris – or an Eris running 2.x.

I'd be leaving behind my beloved 1st Gen iPhone and the awful ATT experience.

But VZW or HTC just refuses to release the Incredible, so every month I pay another $100+ to ATT for my family plan and 2G garbage data. Is what I'm after really such a heavy lift? One of those WinMo phones with Android that I don't have to hack myself?

I was actually planning on switching to VZW just for the HTC Incredible, had switched over the other family phones, but when VZW did not announce the phone at CTIA, and the slower performance of VZW, we switched back to AT&T. I’m anxiously waiting for ANY HTC Android phone to hit AT&T vs. the backflop.

    • I saw something about the Incredible that said  is also GSM-compatible, which suggests it CAN run on the AT&T network.  Anyone know if this is true?  Not seeing much about this, but I believe I saw this on the HTC Website.
