New iPhone HD Release Date: Answer to HTC Evo 4G

By Peter Chubb - Mar 30, 2010

We recently reported that WSJ confirmed that Apple was developing two new iPhone models – one for AT&T and the other for Verizon. At that stage there were no suggestions of a name, but there has been an update to this story. It seems that the new Apple smartphone will be called the iPhone HD.

The release date or announcement date is rumored to be on June 22, 2010 – perfect timing for the HTC EVO 4G. This latest Android running handset is thought to be a big threat to the current iPhone – so comes as no surprise that Apple will offer something very special.

There are a number of HD smartphones about to, or already on the market, so the rumors of an iPhone HD will certainly keep Apple fans happy. We are still not certain how much truth in this story as it is still developing. More details can be found on Engadget

too bad that it's a sprint phone not a verizon phone and yes sprint is on 4g

    Sorry for the skip.

No 4= Opera to be available on Android with mobile Internet Flash capable to Adobe 10.4 version and will be available on Android 2.2 OS as standard.

No 5= Apple didn't expect Android market to flourish so quickly (30,000 apps and counting), even though Apple may say they have 100,000 apps People only download and use 250-500 of the most important ones everyday. So even if Android's 30,000 apps and only 1% are useful (lets just say for mathematical reasons), that's about 300 apps.
No 6= The HTC EVO 4g and the HTC Supersonic and HTC Scorpion will have 1GB of internal storage for more apps and 32GB microSD card for HD storage capability. Have you ever wondered why you can't use the harddrive space on your iPhone like a harddrive where files can be copied to and from via the Windows XP, or Vista or Windows 7?

These are just a few of Apple's woes. When the new iPhone 4G (4th Generation- not 4G WiMax) will only have 640 X 480, 5 Megapixel camera with flash, offer 32GB or 64 GB version. By this time iPhone will have exhausted its high-end value to a more powerful opponents. Just when Apple computers were popular, they will fall to the wayside when a multi-reaching OS Windows shall overwelm the comfy Apples. If Apple systems are great, why is Windows PCs control 85-90% of the Computer market?

Just a quick correction, the HTC Evo and the HTC Supersonic are the same device. It was codenamed the "Supersonic" before it came out. Which means the "Scorpion" could just be another awesome codename which will be changed to something lame in the future. I wish they would keep these names though. The Supersonic is an amazing phone and I bet the Scorpion will be even better. ….plus I'm a Scorpio so that would be awesome hahaha

You're right, Apple was not prepared for this fast of a jump by the other phones (android) and HTC working together to build a superior phone beyond their expectations.
No 1= dual cameras (hello, people) on one phone, front and back for video conferencing.
No 2= 1 ghz (as per Nexus One, HTC EVO 4G) as standard, and the HTC Scorpion with 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon chip to be available at end of 2010.
No 3= Multi-touch now standard on Android 2.1.

Apple are arrogant butts, they will once again try to make it seem they are the "innovators" of HD. To date there are several HD cell phones on the market, they have been there since 2008. Your comment "This latest Android running handset is thought to be a big threat to the current iPhone", is a huge under statement. The EVO is much-much more than just a threat to the current iphone. It completely trumps the iphone. I am will to bet the next iphone will basically be a rehash of the previous one. Apples bottom-line is software. The main underlining reason Apple brought a lawsuit against HTC, is the forthcoming EVO 4G. Apple does not like competition, they would rather muster up a BS lawsuit.
