GM Recalls Heavy Duty Vans: List of Models

By Peter Chubb - Mar 28, 2010

Following on from the news that General Motors is having to recall a bunch of its heavy duty vans – we thought we would give you a list of the GB models vehicle identification numbers. The models involved include the GMC Savana passenger and cargo vans, as well as the heavy-duty 2010 Chevrolet Express.

About 5,000 vans are affected by this recall, which has to do with a faulty alternator. It seems that there is a risk of fire – all of these vans built from February and March are being recalled. GM has also suspended sales of these models until there is a fix.

According to Reuters, owners have been warned not to park them near buildings and they should disconnect both battery cables. The light duty vans are not affected by this recall as they use a different alternator.

Vehicle identification numbers for affected vans are as follows:

  • Express 2500 and 3500 series vans: A1129327 through A1142523.
  • GMC Savana 2500 and 3500 series: A1128784 through A1901915.
