Square talk Final Fantasy IX PS3 release on Twitter

By Alan Ng - Mar 27, 2010

We have some exciting news for Final Fantasy fans now, as Square Enix has given the biggest hint yet, that Final Fantasy IX could be making its way to the Playstation 3 soon.

As reported from AndriaSang, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto has been delivering messages to fans via the official Members page on Twitter.

In one of his latest Tweets he stated: ”Regarding an FF9 download release, everyone is so passionate about it that I’ll be proposing it at the next board meeting. Look forward to next week!”

Take note of that last part too – It may mean that more news is coming next week if Hashimoto is to be believed.

What are your thoughts on this? Final Fantasy VII and VIII are already available on the PS Store, so this seems like a logical step for us.

Where do you think FFIX stands amongst other titles in the series? A lot of gamers think that FF9 is arguably the best.

  • I'll have my say here too. I do agree with the commenter above – Final Fantasy IX is a hidden gem, completely different from VII and VIII. I remember enjoying it just as much as i did 7, with the most frustrating parts being the chocobo treasure quests and the damn skipping game with Vivi. haha.

FFVII is the most overratted and not as good as everyone believes all the games have thier charm and 9 is a beautiful game ^^

IX is the most underrated title in the series.
