iPhone LTE coming according to Apple job posting

By Peter Chubb - Mar 26, 2010

With all the rumors of an iPhone 4G coming this summer – we have lost sight of the real 4G speed iPhone, and when it will make its appearance. So let is gain some perspective on this and what technology Apple will go with.

Well we know that AT&T prefer LTE and an Apple job posting looking for someone with knowledge in a number of key areas – including “WCDMA/UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+, LTE etc.” Engadget stresses that this may not make it to the next iPhone, but it certainly looks that there will be one in the future.

We know that AT&T favor LTE for 4G mobile data, but we are not certain how long it will be before they implement that across its network. There have been some suggestions that they could make a start in 2011 – but we know that AT&T is still working on improving its 3G coverage.

The Apple job listing does not mean that we will not see an iPhone 4G this summer, but we are almost certain that it will not come with 4G data speeds like the recently announced HTC EVO 4G on Sprint. This is not a bad thing though – iPhone owners would much rather improved battery performance and video calling than faster speeds.
