YouTube Down: Http/1.1 Service Unavailable

Millions of YouTube users will be waking up to learn that the online video website is down, and has been since 7am Eastern Time this morning. When I first visited the site I was greeted with the message “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable”, that keeps changing back-and-fourth, just now it read “Service unavailable”.

Center Networks found that all embedded videos still work, but we cannot be certain of that. Go check your embedded YouTube Videos and let us know if yours are still up?

Twitter is on fire at the moment with this story, and we have not heard anything from YouTube about what the problem is and how long it will take to fix. This outage is sure to become a nightmare later when the U.S. start hitting the website.

    I had a Youtube Tab already open and then closed it. After going back and receiving this error I reopened the closed tab and could access the site as usual from there.

    ITS NOT DOWN, ITS JUST THE HOMEPAGE!!! GOOGLE A VIDEO ANY VIDEO AND CLICK THE YOUTUBE LINK. DEFINITELY WOULD WORK ANDWHERE IN THE WORLD.

    Only the homepage is down. Going to a video from history or favorites still shows the site, but clicking on the link to the home page gives the error agaiin.

    It is down here in Yemen as well and giving the same error message just when you try to open the home page of youtube, but if you try to open a link for a specific video it works fine..

    My channel has been down for about 1 hour and I am in St. Louis, Mo. Youtube and Google seem to be coming a pain in the but for the last 4 months now! When another good video site like Youtube used to be comes at me I am ditching Youtube totally… Nothing but false DMCA's and Youtube never answers your questions or addresses your complaints… If it was a real business they would go out of business for poor quality and ethics…Peace…

    I can't get to my home page or youtube.com, but I can get to videos if I have the url for the video and the youtube videos embeded in my web site all work. Pretty weird.

    you cud still bypass it from google. Go to google and type 'youtube.com' and when da search result came out…press 'cached'….then type any video clips you want. It's still working. Just the home page is not working.

    It was down for me for about an hour, and then it was active again. I was in the process of uploading a video – forty five minutes down the line I had one and a half minutes left to go and Youtube decided to stop working again. Typical. Hope all is fixed soon, or at least an offer of an explanation!

    Mine's been out for a while. It just went to 'service unavailable' while I was typing. It's so bloody annoying. Get your act together youtube, or some other geeks will come up with something a dozen times better and far more efficient. Way too many problems.

    actually i dont think youtube is actually down, it does says its unavailable when you visit youtube.com, but if you search youtube videos on google it will actually take you to youtube and you'll be able to search and play other videos aswell.

    Yes, I woke up to find out Youtube isn't working. I was worried that it was only me at first. Though, I found out videos in my bookmarks work.
    It gave me one chance to log on, but then when I tried I got that "Http/1.1 Service Unavailable" message.

    I tried to check on a video i uploaded 5 hours ago to see if it had finished processing and got the error message. I went googling and saw one article saying that China has a problem with youtube and that they attacked youtube once before. It is down here in Fukuoka Japan as well

    This one works! Then you can use the search function and find other videos and watch them!

    It is just http://www.youtube.com and http://www.youtube.co.uk that are not working directly!
