Verizon’s HTC Incredible vs. Nexus One: Specs Compared

By Alan Ng - Mar 25, 2010

Since the majority of Verizon customers are desperately waiting on any news regarding a release for either the HTC Incredible or Nexus One handsets, we thought we would give you a run-down of specs for each one – so you know exactly what you are buying.

We briefly mentioned yesterday that on paper, the HTC Incredible seems like the better choice out of the two in terms of specs, but both handsets have their strong points.

Firstly, lets note the similarities between the two. Both run Google’s latest Android 2.1 OS, both have a 3.7-inch display screen and both come with the usual Bluetooth, WiFi and aGPS features.

As for the differences, the Incredible will run on Sense UI, feature a better 8 megapixel camera, although we are hearing numerous reports that the 1Ghz Snapdragon processor has been underclocked to 768MHz. That is most likely down to battery worries though – It shouldn’t be a major problem for most of you.

Have you already made up your mind on which phone you want? Its no doubt that both handsets are in very high demand at the moment, Verizon just need to get their act together and announce something before interest dies out.

Which phone will you be getting? Nexus One or Incredible?

  • I just stopped into a Verizon store today to get prequalified for service. I'm still leaning towards the Nexus but I'm starting to think whichever phone hits market first is likely the one I'll get. Though I'm really loving the car dock for the Nexus. I've had good GPS phones before and that dock is the one reason my TomTom has stayed put with it's 5 year old maps.

All I can say is Verizon really sucks. I'm eligible for an upgrade, but they really need to get their act together. Before I would have said, "I'll wait a week or two for good news" but Verizon, I have learned, can't deliver on anything or much less be trusted. I think I am going to sacrifice a little coverage for a hell of a great phone. Verizon you've had your chance and you messed up, again…

  • Michael

I'm getting tired of waiting I've been waiting for 2 months and still not even a whisper from Verizon and I'm getting sick of it if they don't do anything by the end of this month i am going to seriously consider switching.

  • Cheryl

I am eligible for an upgrade with Verizon also but they need to get their act together as far as phones!! T-Mobile and Sprint keep getting the best HTC phones!! The HTC Evo 4G is starting to look really good to me……Sprint.

  • Cheryl

You can't watch Youtube videos on the Incredible…….I just found that out on a YouTube review.

  • waiting_in_vain

I have been waiting for the d@mn Incredible, and if it doesn't come in a week, I will switch to Sprint and get the EVO 4G (basically the same phone as the Incredible). I have been waiting for any of the phones (Nexus, Incredible, iPhone 4G) for my upgrade, and my phone has been whacked-out for the last 4 weeks, and I am eligible for an upgrade already. COME ON, VERIZON!!! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! (I apologize for the outburst)

I have a BB Curve 8330 on Verizon today. I'll switch to the Nexus One if I can figure out how to do it without paying a zillion bucks – and so long as they allow the phone to do what it can. One thing that bothers me about the BB/Verizon combo is how they've locked it down. They've disabled GPS in all but their own map application and 911 and there are obviously places to set preferences like the default browser – which cannot be changed. I'll be checking to see that Google Maps don't cost extra or fail entirely, and comparing prices with T-Mobile which reportedly has a pretty good network in this area.

  • Not cool

I'm tired of your horrible customer service and the lack of phones BYE Verizon! I'm going to At&T

    • Dan

      What are you smoking, friend?
I've seen a lot of postings, but come on- leaving Verizon for AT&T- to get better service? <sarcasm> How about reception? Leaving for better reception, too? </sarcasm>

  • austin

all the incredible specs are rumors, nothing official like the release date. Verizon were probably scared of the evo so they opt out of ctia and probably went back to the drawing board. these phones won't matter much since 4g for verizon will be released by the end of the year.

  • Bob

If they want to clear Droid inventory they should announce an upgrade to 2.1 for the Eris and then I would buy the Eris. Right now I'll just sit on the sidelines and buy nothing from Verizon while exploring other phone options.

  • _BS

I'm with Joe, we hear the Incredible is coming soon and it just so happens the 3g smartphone BOGO Free gimmick is ending. The Incredible will be here in no time!

  • Joe

    @Androider
Hold out another week and see what happens..I'll bet once the current buy one get one free deal for Droids is over we will see some Incredible action..Perhaps the Nexus as well. Verizon just needs to rid its inventory of some more crappy phones before it loads up on hot new ones….Of course by the time they actually get these "hot new ones" they probably won't be so hot and new anymore…oh well, that's the Tech world for you….

    • Seff

Absolutely what I said Joe… That's why the good deals with the current phones. I hope anyways! I'm so tired of searching the web to only find the same info just a different day. Verizon marketing really needs some help. They're to hush hush about everything. Pretty silly and they are losing peoples interest day by day.

  • Patience

I want the damn Incredible!!! Release it I will buy it today…
Quit jerking my chain Big Red!!!

  • Bing

Dont forget that the Nexus has noise canceling, two microphones! I think that is a big deal…..

  • Androider

It is irritating, rumors of the big announcement on March 23rd and it is now almost the end of CTIA and nothing. I have been scouring the Internet for searches 'HTC Incredible' and 'Nexus One'. Honestly, I am considering on changing to Sprint or At&t to get a better phone. I have been using the Motorola Droid for 2 weeks and like it, but it seems already 'old news'. Luckily I am borrowing the Droid from a Motorola friend and I am not in a contract with Verizon at the moment. If the Verizon network wasn't so good, I would have left already, that is my dilemma. Give me the phone I want Verizon!

    • CinciDu

I'm suspecting the Incredible will be released Apr 1 because Verizon has a 2-for-1 sale countdown timer on their website for current phones that ends Mar 31 at midnight. Verizon is probably trying to get rid of as much current inventory as they can.

      • Adam

I have been thinking the same thing because after that ends the only 'new' phone on verizon is the motorola devour and I cant remeber a time when verizon only had one 'new' phone available. So there has to be something new coming out and I'm thinking the nexus one or incredible.

  • Flippy

I am more interested in the HTC Incredible because of the camera and the sense IU

  • Jonathan

    Already set on the Incredible.

I don't want a physical trackball. I want the ability to use my Verizon upgrade towards at least part of the price, which I assume I'll be able to do with the Incredible, and since the Nexus One is only sold on Google's website I don't think I can for that phone. I also think the Android 2.1 with the Sense UI is for me.

I just with they would go ahead and announce something about it already!

    • Leaked photos of the testing of the Nexus Verizon sales on Google show a price of $199 so it's likely going to offer a subsidized phone like they do for T Mobile.
