Google’s Promoting Human-Rights Campaign for China

Three days ago we posted an article stating that Google had finally pulled the plug on Google.cn following a dispute regarding attacks on Google’ security infrastructure, we have now heard that Google will be launching a campaign to help improve human-rights in China.

China have recently stated that they thought Google’s decision to redirect Google.cn (China) to Google.hk (Hong Kong) was “totally wrong“, however other Internet companies believe that Google decision was correct as the country has a “questionable record of protecting the online privacy and freedom of expression of its citizens”.

It is not just Google who have taken action against China, recently GoDaddy stopped selling new Chinese web domain names, a GoDaddy representative stated that they “don’t want to be an agent for the Chinese government”.

Recently Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin told the UK newspaper ‘The Guardian’ that he believes that other businesses should treat human-rights abuses in China extremely seriously, perhaps this will convince China to rethink and perhaps change some of their policies.
