iPhone 4G: Release Date vs. Nexus One Verizon

By Updated on

Yesterday was the first day of the CTIA 2010 event and we were treated to a huge range of smartphone launches, such as the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint. However, the one handset that did not get a mention was the Verizon Wireless Nexus One. If this handset is not launched soon then it will be getting closer to the release date of the rumored iPhone 4G.

The Nexus One has been available since the beginning of January direct from Google on the T-Mobile network, but Verizon were left in the dark about when they will get their hands on one.

Google need to act soon for a number of reasons, the first is the iPhone 4G, the second is from other newer Android handsets. There are still rumors that the iPhone could make its way to Verizon, if that happens, then we can say goodbye to the Nexus One.

Other Android handsets are launching all the time, it only takes a new model with say Android OS 3.0 and no one will remember the Nexus One. So this tell us on thing, Google needs to get its act together and release their first handset on Verizon, if they ever hope of seeing units shift in high numbers before the iPhone 4G is released to the public.

This could be the Achilles heel for HTC and Android OS. Too many new smartphones to choose from, so no particular one will dominate. Apple has only its iPhone, and with the millions of loyal users worldwide, needs only to release the next gen iPhone (4G/HD?), match, come close or exceed the specs of what's latest out there and continue it's exceptional Customer Service (Apple Store, etc.) Year after the year, the iPhone continues to shine, so I don't see this year being an exception, especially with the likes of the newly released HTC EVO 4G – the motivation for Apple's newest iPhone to revoultionize and stay ahead of the game.

I agree 110%. I am on the edge of leaving Verizon at this point as well. All other nice phones come out on other carriers before Verizon decides to take part and by the time it lands on this network I want a phone on another network. I don't care about the iPhone but that HTC EVO looks mighty nice.

The Iphone comibined with verizon wireless coverage would shock the system in the cell phone world.. While many of these phones are good.. i still have not seen one that I prefer over using my ipod touch so I know the iphone is great. I’m a verizon wirelss customer and really like the network, but they really need the iphone.. I’ll bet it would be, in short order, their top seller. The other new things such as droid or google leave me still wanting an iphone..

It is not Google holding up the phone probably; it is more likely HTC and Verizon that haven't got their act together yet.

I hope Verizon gets the Nexus One. I don't want to leave Verizon but I do want a phone like the Nexus One.

If iphone get verizon then bam, iphone on att and verizons great network. HTC sent their HD2 to Tmobile and now their EVO 4G to Sprint. Inside their business deals im sure they make strict contracts which impacts why or why not phones dont go to certain carriers. Right now its mainly iphones 4g( which i heard that 4G is for 4th generation, not 4G wireless capabilities) and of course the EVO 4g, which WILL be on a 4G network. Personally i had not problems with sprint, just some bad billing. Crystal clear calls. ATT is rather blotchy (in my case) and dropped calls. My preference right now is the EVO, but as everyone knows, Apple might come out with the next big thing, (except the ipad)

your a moron theonly 4g network is sprint. The sprint network is CDMA.ATT still has an exclusive contract with the iphone till 2012 so what are you even talking about 4g maybe 4th gen iphone would be a better wording. and who is to say that the nexus one can not upgrade to android 3.0

    What about the HTC Incredible?

Agreed. I'm waiting for the iPhone 4G release and will then compare it to the Nexus One or any other comparable 'Droid' phone, whether on AT&T or not. I'm currently a Blackberry user, but that interface is getting old, and I'm up for a newer experience. Open to thoughts from other of this ilk as well. Thanks.

the reason the Nexus One has not taken off is the sales dept for google has their head up their rears. You can only buy direct from them and there is no working phones in any of the tmobile stores for customers or even employees to sell or show. HUGE MISTAKE
