Verizon Nexus One not as popular as Verizon iPhone

As the majority of Verizon customers eagerly await the arrival of the Google Nexus One smartphone on their network, we have some new figures to show you now, which you may find surprising.

A poll over at Phones-Review has concluded that 70 per cent of handset owners surveyed would rather be in possession of a Verizon iPhone, than the upcoming Verizon Nexus One.

Just when you think Verizon customers are getting over the fact that the iPhone probably wont be coming, this survey shows that the iPhone remains top of their wish lists.

It will be interesting to see if demand is still high once Verizon actually release the Nexus One, along with finally rolling out their 4G LTE network.

70 per cent, that is quite a high statistic. Let us know your thoughts on this.

    tried to like the i phone many times, but its not for me.. I mean it really doesn't do as much as people think.. that said, I've been a verizon customer forever now and the nexus one is the light at the end of the tunnel, finally a decent smartphone..

    I have no desire to own an iPhone. I am anxiously awaiting the Nexus One's arrival on Verizon, however. I will grab one as soon as I can.

    Nice… A a UK web site asking about Verizon, a phone carrier that does not provide service in the UK, in an article that subjectively specs the new iphone, without fairly mentioning the specs of the Nexus One, and then polls the reader if they'd prefer that or a Nexus One? Sounds like an accurate poll to me.

    So what? They already have the similar (but in many ways superior) Droid. Why wouldn't Verizon customers be more interested in a new vendor rather than just a GPU-less, keyboard-less new Android device at essentially the same price point?

    I've been waiting forever for a Verizon iPhone. But since it's not loping promising, I'm going to cave and get the Nexus One. Sure, I'd prefer an iPhone. But that doesn't mean I'm any less excited about it.

    I already own 2 Macs and iPod Touch, so I all ready have Apple Apps. With a Android system I cannot double click! Android cannot zoom using the pinching fingers like the iPhone. I am not going to buy an inferior product because it has a 5meg camera. I already have a very nice12meg camera for that. I am not going to try to run 2 different systems so I can have a smart phone. Soon my job will require me to have a smart phone. If Verizon dose not have the iPhone when the time comes then I am leaving. When is Verizon going to get their head out of their a**. Over 70% of their customers want the iPhone. They pride themselves for their "great" customer service, but won't give their customers what they want. My contract has been over for 6 months, either Verizon get the iphone i'll stay, or the new 4G comes out for either AT&T or T-moble I am gone in a heart beat. I have been very patient for the last several years, but I am tired of waiting.

      Yes shame on you Verizon! Why did you design the iPhone and build it to use a GSM network and then only make it available on AT&T?!

      Considering Apple and AT&T have an exclusive agreement together, seems kind of pointless to whine about it until Verizon can provide the iPhone. Why don't you just go to AT&T? Seems easier than having to listen to you complain about some thing you know nothing about…

      Dude.. What are you talking about? "Double Click"? "Pinch Zoom"?? I can pinch zoom just fine with my Droid. The nexus one can as well.. "Inferior" in what regard? In almost every aspect the Droid out powers the iPhone. The only thing the Droid is lacking is in the App Market.. Which is steadily climbing.

      I have a guy here at my work that is absolutely in LOVE with his iPhone.. I got my Droid and brought it to work.. within a half hour or so, he changed his mind about the iPhone and now owns a droid. "When is Verizon going to get their head out of their ###?" They already have.. Open Handset Agreement has now officially been unleashed. Enter: Google. Dude, who would want such a locked down phone that prevents you from even running unlicensed content because Apple deems it unneccessary.. I think Apple has too much control and can't open up and just let their customers do what they want. I used to want an iPhone SO BADLY that I thought about switching.. No way. Android all the way!

      You can pinch to zoom with Android. What do you do with a double click on your iphone? Android has a lot of nice apps like navigation and gesture.

      i have an htc droid eris on verizon that does all that…. pinch zoom, double click. not to mention the verizon network to back it up. do some research and quit being an apple fanboy… theres great smartphones out there not made by apple. good day sir

      Android 2.1 on the Nexus One does have pinch to zoom like the iPhone, and you can double tap to zoom as well.

    I currently have an Iphone through AT&T. I'm waiting with bated breathe to see if and when Verizon is releasing one. If it happens I'm done with AT&T. There coverage area sucks, and dropped calls are bad as well. Unless you live in a big city it's average at best. C'mon Verizon, over 70 percent of people want an Iphone. What is there to think about?

    MPW is Obviously a crapple fanboy because crapple fanboys don't like to do their homework. android does have pinch to zoom, and double clicking isn't all it is cracked up to be, and it isn't 70% of verizon customers that want the iphone it is 70% of the people surveyed and it is only out of 633 voters to that website. android is superior to the iphone in almost every way, so maybe MPW needs to get his head out of his A*% and read before typing cause it just makes him sound stupid, and also stop buying inferior crapple products.

    "Android cannot zoom using the pinching fingers like the iPhone" – not sure what beat up nexus one you're using, but it can pinch zoom. There was an update a month or so ago for it and a few other things. the Nexus One is Google's flagship device, therefore it gets priority for updates over anything else. It will be updated extremely fast when needed.

    Also you haven't seen the Nexus One and iPhone side by side i take it. The Nexus One out performs the iPhone by a long shot, virtually in every category… Verizon is still and will continue being the best service out there… so if you want to leave, have fun with your shitty new service.

    Well, it's actually not Verizon's fault. They want the iPhone too, but AT&T is not giving them a chance to bid on it. They keep giving Apple more and more money to keep them exclusively. if Apple gave Verizon a chance, I'm sure Verizon would make it their worthwhile. So they can't, then they go for the next best thing. The Nexus One.

    Oh and by the way, you can pinch to zoom and all that stuff on the Nexus One. Besides the more polished OS that the iPhone has (which has been out a lot longer than the Android), they have more apps. Meanwhile the Nexus One is more powerful and will be of the first phones with Flash (if you care about that). Give Android a chance. It will surprise you.

    I also did not care for an iPhone. It's an iPod with a phone stuck in it. I've also used both the HTC Eris and Moto Droid on Verizon – far superior as devices and services go, but I'm hoping for even more. My current Palm Centro has been ressurected from the dead twice just in the dream of making it last long enough to get a Nexus or Incredible. Please Verizon, make an announcement! Let AT&T keep the iPhone….
