Bicycle Bells Recalled: Contains Excessive Lead Levels
By: Peter Chubb | March 20, 2010 | 2 CommentsWe assumed that we would have been over recalls due to excessive lead paint, but the recent news that Do It Best bicycle bells having to be recalled is proof that we are far from that. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced details of this recall yesterday, March 19, 2010.
The Botou Baite Bike Bell Co. Ltd., did not manufacture the bells themselves, it comes as no surprise that this took place in China – this has broken the federal lead paint standard. We have to wonder if the U.S. will ever be able to control this from happening, it is all great being able to save money here and there, but at what cost?
Thankfully there has been no reports of symptoms caused from lead exposure, which as we know can cause such things as brain and nervous system damage. The bells that have I ♥ My Bike” printed on them come in three colors, red, black and white and costs just $1.
These bells were purchased from Do It Best Hardware stores and Dollar Stores from August 2008 to August 2009. If you need any more details on this visit News Inferno
