Motorola CLIQ XT Review: Needs Android 2.1

By Posted 15 Mar 2010, 11:21

If you have been toying with the idea of purchasing the Motorola CLIQ XT you may want to check out Android Community’s fully detailed review, their review really does tell you whether or not the CLIQ XT is a worthy successor to the original Motorola CLIQ.

The review looks into many different aspects of the handset, they believe that two of the things letting down the handset are the processor and OS version. The handset’s processor is a 528Mhz Qualcomm chip, this paired with Android 1.5 gives the handset a quite sluggish feel.

Not everything is negative, the handset’s integration of the Swype predictive keyboard technology is said to be pretty impressive, also the addition of Flash Lite to their handset’s web browser makes web browsing a better experience.

Finally worth a mention is the CLIQ XT’s camera, when you see that the camera is a 5 megapixel sensor with autofocus you expect pretty good quality photos and videos, however the overall photo quality is said to be underwhelming, also maximum video capture at 352 x 288 24fps is not too great.

If you consider the CLIQ XT to be a mid-level smartphone you should be pretty happy with the phones overall performance and functionality, however if you are looking for a high-end smartphone the CLIQ XT really does fall short, perhaps if the handset featured a faster processor and Android 2.1 it’s appeal would be greater.

The Sunnyvale brewed MotoBlur is a processor hog! Go get yourself an Illinois-developed blur-free DROID !! Did I mentioned that it also uses outdated software ?? They added a couple of apps (there are thousands free on the app store) but they are still shipping an outdated operating system, less advanced than the DROID's.
