Google Earth Street View Extended: Most of Britain
By: Peter Chubb | March 11, 2010 | 1 CommentWe recently reported that Google were thinking of not supplying Google Earth Street View images in Europe following a EU ruling – this has not stopped the search engine giant from extending its coverage throughout Britain. Google has now uploaded a huge amount of 360-degree pictures from one end of the UK to the other.
In total, more than a quarter of a million miles of roads in Britain now appears in Street View – meaning that more people from the UK will be on Google Earth tonight to have a look around. The Guardian reports that many users have now taken to their Twitter accounts to upload their best images.
The Guardian has a number of reports where the Street View car was out and about – even getting told to slow down by the police. We reported in a recent post that maybe Google Earth is not needed – not when you have Google Maps on Twitter.
