Carlos Slim Helu: Overtakes Bill Gates as richest man in the world – Forbes
By: Alan Ng | March 11, 2010 | 3 CommentsIt has been confirmed that Microsoft’s Bill Gates is no longer the ‘World’s Richest Person’, as he has been overtaken by a unknown Mexican tycoon – according to the Forbes latest billionaires list.
As reported from Pocket-Lint, that man is Carlos Slim Helu – a telecoms mogul who beat the Microsoft founder to the top spot by ”only” $500 million difference.
Also revealed in Forbe’s latest figures, is the statistic that the collective earnings of the top 10 richest tech billionaires rose by a staggering $55.8 billion over the past year alone.
Also worth a mention is the world’s youngest billionaire. That honour goes to Mark Zuckerburg – the founder of Facebook, who is estimated to be worth $4 billion.
