Apple sue HTC for infringement of 20 iPhone patents

It has been reported that Apple has just filed a lawsuit against handset rivals HTC, for an infringement of as many as 20 iPhone patents. Steve Jobs has also decided to get involved, issuing a statement on the matter.

As reported from Apple Insider, the patents are related to the iPhone’s interface, as well as hardware and underlying architecture for the device.

Apple has now detailed some of the patents in which HTC has violated on, some of these include ‘”Touch Screen Device, Method, And Graphical User Interface For Determining Commands By Applying Heuristics” and “Unlocking A Device By Performing Gestures On An Unlock Image”.

Talking directly about this case, Apple CEO Steve Jobs states that the company (Apple) could just sit there and watch as competitors ‘steal their patented inventions‘, or do something about it – which they have clearly done.

No word from HTC yet, but further details are expected to pour out throughout the week. What are your thoughts on this? Don’t forget that Apple also sued Nokia recently, so it looks as if they are taking firm action now.
