well it will be the first game (if it's true) multi platform that ps3 has better graphics for! everygame i have played has better graphics on 360! anyway 360 is gonna blow ps3 outta the water this year. There is sooo many 360 only titles which are amazing, fable 3, splinter cell conviction, alan wake, and oh yeah HALO REACH! and yes i do have a ps3 and ive got mag (which is not bad) and i will get heavy rain and god of war but 360 is the best this year (once again) there is 1 thing which i prefer on the ps3 and that is the ps3 pad for street fighter! but every other game is betetr on the xbox controller!

I have both systems and I can say I enjoy both. The biggest difference for me is Xbox live which is far superior to PSN. As far as games are concerned both have some great games coming out and I'll but multi-player games for the 360 and single player games for the Playstation. The only online multi-player game I'll buy for the playstation will be Socom 4 if they ever make it.

Back on topic I was planning on buying this game for the PS3 anyway but it's still good to see this coming out for the 360 and I'm sure there will be some differences since it was developed as a PS3 title.

There isn't even an arguement worth having here folks! The 360 has dominated the PS3 year in and year out in software sales, hardware sales, awards, online services, social networking services and entertainement services.

No one with any self-respect can possibly look in the mirror and say with a straight face that PS3 will ever be in the same league as the 360 this year or any other for that matter. Every independent reviewer consistantly rate cross platform games to be better on the 360 and this is actual facts folks…no opinions here.

Sick exclusives in 2010 like: Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Fable 3 Exclusive download content only for 360 on Modern Warfare 2 and Dead Rising 2

To top it off, Natal is coming at the end of the year and is going to be innovation the likes of a new gaming platform coming to market. Natal is head and shoulders above the joke motion controller attempts from Sony and Wii.

Uncharted 2 looks great, MGS4 looks great, Killzone looks great, and I imagine GT5 and GoW3 will look great, the other games are OK, visually.
On the topic… I just saw the scans and I'm not sure that the PS3 is so much better than the 360, look at the details on the gun, I think the 360 looks better, but that is the problem with screens, the only way to know is a game is better on one platform or the other is in motion. I hope they are on par, so I can buy the one that I want not the one that SE wants me to.

So, 4 exclusive games against a little bit more on ps3. Having Kz2, uncharted1 and2, valkyria chronicles, demons souls, resistance, little big planet, disagea, agarest war… and ff 13 in full resolution, I'm happy. I dont have to pay for playing online, and I dont pay for gt5 – PD isnt a sony. x360 had his moment, now the ps3 selling much better, and have very good games. check vgchartz.

The only difference I see is that the PS3 screenshot is darker. It actually looks like the 360 has better textures. Look at that sphere-shaped object in the background. There's more detail on that in the 360 screenshot than in the PS3 one.

No one cares about what fanboys on any system says. They are clearly sticking with their system of choice regardless of the facts.

The basic fact of the matter is both systems have made many blunders and tried to make amends in other areas. Sony has the most advanced hardware, but overly priced it, and didn't give the support it should have to the developers early on to program for it. Also Sony didn't focus on exclusives, they figured people would flock to them to make games, but again without proper assistance on how to program for new hardware who would want to without some incentive. MS went with current tech that had no learning curve to program, so it wasn't as great as Sony, but its been proven to work. Unfortunately their hardware was of inferior quality and prone to fail all the time. They did however where smart in their support to developers and went out to buy up exclusives.

Together they would be a good company; a force to be dealt with, however alone they do things half assed.

As far as game quality on multiple platforms, think about it this way. If you optimize a game on PS3 because then it will run amazingly better than on other platforms. To port it from a PS3 will of course mean downgrading things like graphics and resolution to work on other platforms. If you optimize a game for 360, there are a number of things you have to do to make it run on the PS3, because its not a simple port. The way the PS3 is designed code has to be set up a certain way to take full advantage of the system, its not standard like the 360, so if there isn't a dedicated team working on it it won't pair up with the 360.

So unless a developer is focusing more than a simple port there will always be differences, maybe not in visuals, but definately in performance.

I enjoy this all lol…. I have both systems but i as of right now have the xbox 360 version for Pre-order and i am not planning on changing it. Quite frankly i don't care about which version is "better" graphically…personally i like games games where i can talk to my friends while playing a RPG which i can do on my xbox 360( i mean yes i could put my ps3 and xbox running and talk on my xbox but A. I have both PS3 and Xbox 360. From my own personal experience when it comes to Multi platfrom titles the Xbox 360 looks better. Whether it be GTA IV, Smackdown vs Raw or even Tekken 6 the Xbox 360 looked better. Having said that Fight Night Round 4 looked good on both consoles so does Modern Warfare 2 and Res Evil 5. It depends maybe sometimes on the developers I guess. Killzone 2 has good graphics for a 720p PS3 title.

Whats with everyone acting like mass effect 2 is xbox exclusive ? you can play it on the PC. In fact almost all the xbox "exclusives" can be played on the pc. I own both a 360 and ps3 and hands down I like the ps3 console better. If 360 would stop being so damn lazy and release a bluray player or something so that devolpers can stop multi disc'ing there games that alone would make me much happier. Problem with xbox is that titles that are released on it are either aval on ps3 as 1 disc instead of a bunch or aval on PC which point you hardly need the 360. I bought my 360 because at the time there was a few exclusives I wanted but since everyone has been released on pc or ps3

That really sucks for Square because I'm a 360 owner (and can't really afford to own a PS3 since I'm usually buying games for my 360) also, and I probably won't purchase the game since it is an infererior product. Even with all the compression creating lower quality textures, square could have at least gotten it to run in true 720P.
There are too many other great exclusives like Splinter Cell, Halo Reach, and Alan Wake that are obviously of better quality and do Run at HD resolutions, so I won't waste my money on what looks like a crappy port job of PS3's Final Fantasy 13. Square's loss, not mine.

I agree, both the ps3 and the 360 have their good games. I own an 360 but i try not to say whether a game is better on it as i haven't played it on a ps3. In terms of power, the ps3 does have more to play with, as it does have 2 teraflops of performance to the 360 1 teraflop. The reason why we keep seeing better 3 party games on the 360 is due to the dev tools for the ps3 being a total pain in the ass.

With a total of 11 titles announced exclusive to the PS3 by mid-year with more to be announced at E3 compared to HALF that on 360 announced for the full year? Yeah, no. More exclusives? No. BIGGER exclusives? Sure, but I'd rather play Heavy Rain and 3D Dot Game Heroes over another sequel.

if you look at the back box art of the 360 version on gamestop.com you can clearly see the game will be in HD up to 1080p same as the ps3 version. square would be out of there mind if they made the 360 version run in SD and the ps3 version run in HD as that would cause them to lose quite a bit of sales for the game overall. the screen shots are clearly more crisp for the ps3 version but did anyone ever stop and think that maybe the screenshots were captured on different tvs? we already heard about square doctoring screenshots before. remember “no press is bad press.” things like this just add fuel to the fire to get people to talk about ff13 which can really only help cause it will cause people that really are curious about a story like this to delve deeper and do more research about the game

ok. for the record, 360 did not get a port. they actually started from scratch and they have stated so numerous times. its simply limited because the hardware. the compression is what made the game look worse. and a majority of multiplats never look great on ps3 compared to 360 due to the code not being optimized for the architecture of cell. some ppl should get over the idiotic fanboy mentality . especially marmon or whatever his name is. to say the ps control is only better on sf4 is sad. its true for any fighting game but most let you use the analog stick as well. to be honest, i prefer ps controls for my shooters because the deadzone is huge on 360 controls. it makes cod feel twitchy. and in regards to halo, still just a ok game but its rather unimpressive to me. same for splinter cell. alan wake i will get though. and its ff13. its a crap game. all graphics and movies, like mgs4, another overrated piece of shit.

Why are we judging the basis of how good a console is by how many exclusives it has? At least Sony don't have to throw a load of money around to get their exclusives – they own a nice group of studios who make stellar games continuously who make games exclusive for PS3 at no extra charge – Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, God of War, WipEout, Gran Turismo, InFamous just to name a few.

I don't see how chastising SE for not making a perfect port for 360 is even justifiable. Japan's all about the ps3 for these type of Hi-Def games. If anything, they're just throwing out there the 360 version for people who don't own a ps3 and would like to try it on a 360. The Japanese don't give a fuck if it doesn't sell for 360 – they've made enough off the ps3 jap version to be happy. The 360 owners should be happy to even get a port of it. The Stateside users didn't get a demo for ps3 in the Advent Children BluRay for the specified reason (confirmed by a SE press conference) that the 360 version wasn't "ready" yet and they didn't want to release a completed NA Ps3 demo and not one for 360. There's no doubt if it was only ps3 the game would have been released earlier this month and there would have been a demo.
There isn't that big of a difference between screens anyways. The major thing about ps3's version is that unlike 360 i won't be toting around 5 or more disks and switching them out every 10 hours i play it. But as someone said below me: "what are you all fighting about this game is gona suck balls anyway so why fight over which is better." Fact. Versus XIII ss going to be the good one – so who really gives a shit.

1. Xbox 360 is EASIER to program for. Uses similar architecture that consoles have been using for years, so it stands to reason that using a higher powered GPU than the ps3 will produce better looking games BUT only when time is an issue.

2. The PS3 changes the way programmers create PS3 games. The GPU in the PS3 is used similar to a clutch, with all of the main processing power coming from the Cell. Using this in the right way produces some of the best looking games this gen.

anyway, this wouldnt be the first, since GTA IV ran at a lower res on the ps3, same thing here too. and a big one: GT5 claims to be 1080p, but in actual fact, it runs at 1280x1080p, and is upscaled. and before you say "its technically still 1080p", yes, but ask anybody what res 1080p is, and they will say 1920×1080, blu-rays, hd-dvds etc are all 1920×1080.

in short: we cant say anything until the games are released, tested with the same quality cables, on the same recording equipment etc. even then, we cant say for certain until a while after they are released, due to potential patches.

the resolutions of the screenshots posted are 400×300. This means they are not the original screencap. They have been resized to fit the article. Also, they are posted in 1:1 pixel ratio which is giving you a very squished view. They should be stretched to a 16:9 aspect ratio cuz that's how it is supposed to be viewed. If these pics were stretched to 532×300, we could see their true perspective. And, if the original screencaps were posted (or at least linked) and stretched to 1920×1080, we could get a near perfect look.

i am a simply person with a simple xbox360. Why did i choose an xbox over a ps3?, well.. when i got my xbox the ps3 was about $900 so i didnt bother. I am still a kid, and i can get $900 overnight, and since all my friends have an xbox360, it all made logical sence to get one too. Now that ive played my xbox360 for few years, ive learned to live with the "Graphics" or the "RROD". But thats just it… ive never had a ps3 so i dont know what im missing out on, or what im not missing out on. From what i understand, each console has its ups and downs. However lately ive been thinking about getting a ps3 because some of its games have appealed to me more than any xbox game has. Dont get me wrong, i love the xbox and its games, however i just never got into GTA4 or any Halo, or COD. I love RPG's and since the ps3 has Heavy Rain, Metal Gear and FF i thought it might be nice to try them!. So for now, i have my simple life and my simple xbox360, and i enjoy its company . If i do end up getting both consoles, woopee!, i may end up loving the ps3, or perhaps hating its guts, still.. im taking a risk. Because in the end, im still going to buy games that appeal to me, regardless of what platform its on. Both consoles are fine, live with it.

That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Technically, the Xbox 360’s GPU wins in terms of raw fill rate (see: http://forum.pcvsconsole.com/viewthread.php?tid=1… If anything, the game’s native resolution on the PS3 should be lower than the Xbox 360’s. Geometry can theoretically be more complex on the Xbox 360 too, because it has better peak vertex performance. Even unoptimized, a GPU-bound engine should perform par, if not better on the Xbox 360. CPU-bound is a different, very convoluted story, but I see nothing to indicate that FF13 (or any game in this genre) is particularly CPU intensive.

The only thing PS3 fanboys rant and rave about that has any validity is the decrease in FMV quality on the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 has massive optical storage and built-in support for codecs like VC1, so 1080p Blu-Ray quality video comes with the territory. The Xbox 360 is limited by the capacity of a single-layer DVD (virtually no games are pressed on dual layer discs, FF13 is no exception); video is stored at 720p, using a proprietary codec (Bink).

While we are on the subject, the fact that the game spans 3 discs on the Xbox 360 has NOTHING TO DO with the content included in either version of the game. Square has no problem forcing the player to swap discs (as in most of their PSX generation games). They did not, therefore compromise the entire game simply because one of the platforms in a foreign market might inconvenience its players by forcing them to swap discs as the story progresses.

It is easy to port a well performing game from the PS3 to the Xbox 360, because aside from differences in storage capacity and rarely exploited parallelism in the Cell processor, the two architectures are remarkably similar. Of particular interest is the fact that both GPUs are derived from commodity hardware developed in the PC market, and both consoles use APIs derived from Direct3D (360) or OpenGL (PS3).

Code that parallelizes well on the PS3 can easily be ported to the Xbox 360, but limitations on the functional units in the Cell processor that are not well understood by current generation developers make it difficult for the converse to be true. Cell’s architecture is practically a new branch of academia, much like the way the MIPS architecture fundamentally idealizes a pipelined RISC processor. For instance, CISC instruction sets can easily be converted to RISC (in fact, all x86 processors these days are RISC pipelined internally after the CISC instructions are decoded), but the opposite is not necessarily true.

In summary, the PS3 has larger optical storage, but its memory architecture is split 256/256 between CPU and GPU. Xbox 360 has tiny optical storage, but a unified memory architecture where CPU and GPU have 512 Mb of memory on a VERY FAST shared bus, what is more, it has 12 Mb of dedicated high-speed framebuffer memory that makes things like multi-sample anti-aliasing and upscaling much less taxing (performance wise) on the Xbox 360.

I own both a PS3 and an Xbox 360. While I rarely use my PS3, I am not an Xbox 360 fan boy – I simply enjoy JRPGs, and the Xbox 360 has a LOT more of them in the U.S. market. It is true that the PS3 has more now than it did, but in the U.S. market these titles often have a 1 year lead time between Xbox 360 and PS3 release. And games like Lost Odyssey will always be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Elder scrolls of Oblivion was released a year later on PS3, plenty of time for improvements to be made.

I think it would help if the PS3 screenshot were bigger… You can't really tell the difference in an image that small. Also, the reason for Xbox 360's success is because it's cheaper than the PS3, more people can afford it. I think, instead of looking at "purchases", it's the reviews we should look at. Besides, without PS3, the xbox 360's games would drop in quality and same with the xbox 360. It's a competition for the best games and that's a good thing.

The thing that urks me is the poor image post, please take note of the compression blurring on the Xbox image it was saved at least 10% more lossful compression than the other or resized poorly. This won't give anyone a good clear comparison. In addition it could be 2 different versions of the game given one is in Japanese and the other is in English. How about a difference in TV's too?

Taking into account that Sony bailed Square out of bankruptcy and how the FF series has always been on Sony, I don't doubt that it would look better on Sony. I have an Xbox360 I love it, I will have a PS3 hopefully this summer. Both Systems have their advantages.
