MWC 2010: New ‘super group’ App Store aims to take on Apple
By: Alan Ng | February 15, 2010 | 1 CommentWhat happens if you fail to keep up with the Apple App store on your own? You get help from others of course, as that is exactly the plan, with a new App store on the way consisting of 24 different mobile companies.
As reported from WSJ, the App store has been set up by ‘The Wholesale Applications Community’ and aims to provide mobile applications for users on ALL mobile phones, in an effort to topple Apple’s grip on the App store market.
Companies signed up for the scheme so far include the likes of AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, Vodafone, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom and many more.
We are also hearing that LG, Samsung and Sony Ericsson have all given their official backing to the service, so watch out Apple – you now have a battle on your hands.
