The British transport secretary has now ordered the managing director of Toyota GB to answer questions on why they have had to recall more than 190,000 vehicles in the UK, including the ever-popular Prius Hybrid. Lord Adonis would like to know why it took more than 12 months for the Japanese automaker to issue a recall.
There are eight models that have been affected by this recall, which is due to a fault with the brakes. According to The Guardian, Theresa Villiers, the shadow transport secretary in the UK was the MP who called for a parliamentary inquiry into the brake issue.
Toyota will now be asked why it took them so long to react to the problem, when they have known about the brake fault for over a year. This news comes after Toyota president; Akio Toyoda issued an outside review of the company, which you can read more about in our recent post.
