Toyota Recall Prius In Japan: Brakes defect

After weeks of ongoing speculation, it has now been confirmed by Toyota that they will be recalling more than 220,000 vehicles in Japan, including the Prius model, as a result of the brakes defect.

As reported from Guardian, the figure now brings the recall total to 400,000 vehicles across the world. The four main hybrid models affected include the 2010 Prius model, the Prius PHV, the SAI and the Lexus HS250h.

The issue for Japanese Toyota owners is exactly the same as seen in the U.S recently – which is the possibility of temporary brake failure at low speeds, when travelling on slippery or bumpy surfaces.

Toyota, who still remain the world’s biggest car maker, are expected to make further announcements on the recall later today. We will keep you updated on this.
