Final Fantasy VII: PS3 Remake not likely to happen – The reasons

Some disappointing news for fans of the classic Final Fantasy VII game now, as producer Yoshinori Kitase has hinted that a remake of the game won’t be happening. We have the main reasons why.

As reported from VG247, the main problem in giving the game an HD makeover is that the sheer size of Final Fantasy VII and the many towns contained in the game, would prove to be a difficult task, when trying to recreate the graphics in HD.

A direct quote from Kitase reads: “It is very hard to make games on PlayStation 3 in the same style as the games in that era had. Making graphics will take enormous time.”

Sounds like a bit of an excuse to us. Surely the geniuses at Square-Enix could come up with a solution to create like-for-like towns in HD graphics.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you feel this is a bit of a cop-out by Square or not?

Yeah, I believe is all bull.. the reason given as to why its not possible that is. Here’s the real reason…Why would they take time and money to re-do FFVII for the PS3 when they are making a killing at $10 on the PSN store for the digital copy of the game?

  …Because, honetly. If Square remade FFVII for the PS3, they would become trillionaires overnight and never have to make a single game for the rest of the companies life. :p

I think what I really heard is that it would be difficult to give that amount of resources in this economy to a game that people may still own and recoup the investment. It already sells for $10 and the PS3 up-converts that. To turn around and recode a game for graphics would serve no purpose. Games are not about graphics, they are about game play. Hence the the reason that Nintendo owns the charts for lifetime sales of games.

I don't Just want a remake of ff7 i need a remake of this game to me there is no other game made that is better than Final Fantasy 7 the greatest game ever Please find a way to make this game With God all things are possible so don't say a recreation of this game is impossible.

I rather they make a new RPG without the final fantasy title that is good at final fantasy 7 in story, music, sound and gameplay. Its a big waste of money and resources to recreate something that is just for the people who were Final Fantasy 7 fans. In a market point of view they wouldnt make much money out of it as this generation of people like different things. I would like Final Fantasy 3/6 remade into ps3 graphics but I know that will not happen.

  We are becoming more and more fans of FFVII every year. I played this game in 1997 when it launched and have played other final fantasy games BUT didn't like none of them. This is the ONLY final fantasy game that ROCKS!!!!!!! When sony launched the digital copy of FFVII on PSN, they sold about 1,500 PSN copies a day at $10 = $15,000 per day in profits. When sony launched the PSP FFVII: Crisis Core, only 777,777 consoles bundles with FFVII crisis core game were made and sold out that same day. If they re-make FFVII for PS3, I assure you that even if this game sells for $150!!! we are still going to buy it!!! This is the reason most of us own a PS3 in the first place, to play a HD Re-make of FFVII !!!!!!!!!!!!!
