We knew that Capcom were to make an announcement about something they have planned with the Xbox 360, but little did we know that it was going to be a huge press conference. It turns out that the big news is the launch of new game for Microsoft’s console, Monster Hunter: Frontier.
We all know how popular the game is on the PC, so was only a matter of time before it was ported to the Xbox 360. The new format for this online multiplayer game will be launched on the Xbox 360 some time this summer, with no exact date given.
Monster Hunter is big business in Japan, so this news could certainly help to increase Xbox 360 console sales in the country. To give you an idea of how popular the game is, the PSP version has sold over 3.5 million copies, just imagine how many 360 versions would sell.
We are not certain if the game will be released outside of Japan, IGN believes that Capcom are just trying to get their timing perfect before they announce a worldwide release of Monster Hunter: Frontier. It is no secret that the Xbox 360 sales in Japan are low at the moment, so there has to be a U.S. and European launch.
There is to be a closed test beta in May in Japan ahead of its summer release. For those who purchase the game they will then take part in a two-week open beta, in this time there will be no monthly fee.
