Apps for Kindle: A Response to the New Apple Tablet?
By: Jamie Pert | January 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Amazon have recently revealed plans to allow developers to build applications for their Kindle device, many are speculating as to whether this is a response to the immanent announced for the Apple Tablet /iSlate.
It seems that Amazon are promoting the addition of iPhone-like applications, these applications will be available at the Kindle Store later this year, if you are interested in joining the limited beta programme check out this site.
It is thought that a few of the first applications to be released on this platform will be “an active Zagat restaurant guide, word games and puzzles from Sonic Boom, and games from Electronic Arts”.
Personally I can’t really see how these applications will directly compete with the Apple Tablet, however I do feel that it will make the Kindle more appealable, for further details check out guardian.co.uk.
