iPhone OS 4.0: Release Date Imminent?

Currently Apple’s latest version of iPhone OS is version 3.1.2, this was released back in September, it now seems that iPhone OS 4.0 could soon surface.

According to a ‘close Apple insider’ iPhone OS 4.0 is currently being held off, this is said to be because it has too many references to the upcoming Apple iSlate tablet.

Obviously at the moment we must treat this as an unreliable rumor, personally I think it is unlikely that it is true, especially as Apple tend to hold a developer event in March.

I feel it is much more likely that Apple will debut an early version of iPhone OS 4.0 at the event in March, perhaps with a launch of the OS sometime in June or July.

As we hear more regarding iPhone OS 4.0 we will keep you posted, for more information check out SlashGear.
