Google Nexus One Phone: Not Revolutionary or an iPhone Killer

Google launched their Nexus One phone just under a week ago and to many, is seen as an anti-climax. Do not get us wrong it is a nice phone, but not an iPhone killer as many suggested all those months ago. There were hopes that the first Google-branded phone was going to be revolutionary, but it seems that we have been let down.

BusinessWeek has been taking a much closer look at the Nexus One and do agree that the superphone is sleek and sexy and has seen huge advancements when it comes to processor and software technology. However, technology in the cell phone business moves fast and will not be long before it is overtaken.

The Google-branded phone is manufactured by HTC as was the very first Android based cell phone, the T-Mobile G1. The handset is very similar to the iPhone in its dimensions, although slightly lighter and thinner. The Nexus One runs on the latest 2.1 Android OS and makes the phone run much smoother and faster than previous version of the mobile operating system.

We have established that the Apple iPhone will not feel under any threat with the Nexus One, but that is not the same story with the Motorola Droid. This handset still runs on the older Android 2.0 and has a much slower processor, well it was launched a couple of months back now.

The Droid had a superb display when launched, much brighter with a higher resolution than the iPhone, but the Nexus One blew its competition out of the water with its latest screen technology. What are your first thought of this latest handset? Read what BusinessWeek has to say on the Google Nexus One phone.
