Google have given their own branded phone an upgrade in software, offering the latest Android 2.1 OS. Engadget warned their readers that the review unit they have is an early employee-only model, so the handset released today could have a few more changes, such as performance.

In the review, it goes on about how Google have not forgotten how they first entered the smartphone market with the G1. However, in order to stand out over other handsets Google knew that change was needed and that was to look closely at the Apple iPhone.
