According to recent rumors Apple are to unveil its Apple Tablet PC device this year, with an expected March release date. According to a source, the iPhone maker hopes to be able to grab a greater share of the handheld computer market.
Business Week reports that analyst Gene Munster expects Apple to sell 1.4 million tablets in 2010, if the device is released in March. However, a recent article in the Wall Street Journal states that the device dubbed the iSlate will shift 10 million units in its first full year of release.
There have been rumors that Apple will offer two devices, with prices ranging from $600 to $1000. If Apple wants to gain ground in the handheld computer market, then they had better revise that $1000 price tag. Apple has yet to comment on any of this.
Business Week also reports that the Apple Tablet could be designed to work with the 100,000 apps that run on the iPhone. If this turn out to be true, then this added feature will help shift more units.
Apple will not have it all there own way if they do release a tablet device, Microsoft is thought to be releasing the Courier and other computer makers have also announced product launches. It seems that 2010 will be the year of the tablet.
