Just before Christmas we posted an article looking at the UK carrier O2′s data service outage, O2 have recently confirmed that this was due to Apple’s iPhone and BlackBerry handsets.
According to a recent article posted on theINQUIRER the huge surge in mobile apps has resulted in huge demands for the network, this is mainly due to the popularity of BlackBerry and Apple handsets.
It is thought that O2 will be working on a solution for the problem. O2 did iterate that the problem had nothing to do with regular data traffic.
Up until a few months ago O2 held exclusivity for Apple’s iPhone 3GS, interestingly the U.S. carrier AT&T who held exclusivity for the handset in the U.S. have also experienced similar issues.
