Uncharted 2 (PS3): Game of the Year. Do you agree?

During a recent study into gaming throughout 2009, Metacritic came to the conclusion that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for Sony PlayStation3 was the game of the year.

According to the recent study the PlayStation 3 was the most successful platform in 2009, in second place was the PC, in third place was the Xbox 360, in fourth was the PSP followed by the Nintendo DS and the Wii.

In second place in terms of game of the year was the PS3 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in third place was the PS3 version of Street Fighter IV and in fourth was the Xbox 360 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

    Having completed this gaming master piece last night, I have to agree, it IS the game of the year. Visually it is absolutely stunning, the transitions from cut scene to action to platforming to shooting to puzzling are the smoothest ever. Shooting is very satisfying, the story and acting are first rate, far better than most Hollywood action films. And I want to do it all again. And again. I cannot wait for UC3!!!

    Given the strength of the competition this year, and the anticipated quality of titles set for launch in 2010, this is gaming’s golden era, an August time indeed.

    UNCHARTED 2 Deserves it. Its an amazing game. Ive just done my fourth run through after getting bored very quickly with MW2.

    Yes it is. It is good. Best game on PS3 and its only great exclusive. This and the PS3 Slim are the turning point for a previously troubled console.

    Absolutely deserves it. Nothing comes even close to the immersion, gameplay, graphics and story/score..

    It’s perfection in a videogame.

    Uncharted 2 is by far the best game of 2009 hands down!! Batman Arkham Asylum should be 2nd……Maybe CODMW2 deserves 2nd, but only for online play….

    MGS4 – Dullest game on the PS3
    LBP – Admittedly brilliant but not really a reason to own a PS3.
    Resistance – Again, great game but no ones gonna buy a PS3 for it.
    Warhawk – Eh?
    Ratchet And Clank – Great on the PS2.
    Motorstorm – Not a great game IMO and certainly not worth buying a PS3 for.
    Gran Turismo – Not released yet so can’t possibly be a reason to buy a PS3. It could be terrible.
    Heavy Rain – See above.
    Pixeljunk Series – Really?

    What about games like infamous and killzone 2. Not to mention the first uncharted, God of war 3. La noire and Agent are being developed by rockstar north and don’t say it could be bad because developers like santa monica studios, Quantic dream, and Rockstar north don’t make bad games ever.

    YES! Uncharted was the best EXCLUSIVE game for 2009. Modern Warfare 2 could have won, but the story was really short. Also Modern Warfare 2 isn’t an exclusive.

    Good point, I loved Infamous – despite it’s Wii style graphics. Although not an exclusive Prototype was also a real gaming highlight.

    I am not much into Western made games but I say this game is the best of 2009. almost Perfect & so much fun to play. It is also one of the reason to own a PS3.

    uncharted is without question best game of 2009,bafta should be ashamed of themselves giving the award to batman, they have lost all there credibility. everybody knows uncharted 2 is the best gameof last year, bafta have been controlled because its a british developer,no other award in any other country gave it to batman,uncharted 2 won all,and to give batman gameplay is farsicle at best,i button bashed my way through the first quarter, i am all for supporting our deveolpers but not lying about a game just because its british made,uncharted 2 is one of the highest rated games of all time and to denie its brilliance to our gamers and develpers, means we will miss out on learning what is brilliant about the game just because we wont acknowledge it. never have i been so disapointed in there choice,and dont think this is the last bafta will here of this as the gaming public is not stupid,everybody out there needs to let bafta know this will effect there credibility so much and will not be trusted again.
