Apple vs Google: Tablet vs Netbook

When we look at Apple and Google, the two companies are very different in the way that they approach business. You have Google who are at the forefront of search engine technology and Apple who certainly know how to produce great computer devices.
When it comes to hardware technology Apple has the edge and that is evident if recent rumors are anything to go by. 2009 was the year of the netbook but 2010 is thought to be the year of the tablet PC, so why would Google still back something that might not be as big next year.
We cannot say the same for Apple, they seem to know when the time is right to launch a device and launching a tablet PC in the first part of 2010 could be the best decision they have made in some time. We can certainly see Steve Jobs having control over this.
Apple could have launched their tablet device this year, but awareness of tablets is not that high at the moment. However, when it comes to hyped products, then Apple is king, you only have to look at the success of the iPhone.
If 2010 will not be that big for the netbook, then why has Google partnered with a number of computer makers to offer a new Chrome OS, who has it right, Google or Apple?
