BlackBerry and iPhone Apps Helps Charge Chevy Volt

BlackBerry and iPhone Apps Helps Charge Chevy Volt

By: Peter Chubb | December 11, 2009 | Leave a Comment

The Chevy Volt is shaping up to be a car designed for those who love technology, and the news that you will be able to start the car with either a Blackberry or iPhone app proves just that. This comes after we learned that you could program the charging of the vehicle from the dash.

This latest feature is much like the one that Nissan announced, but will go a few steps further. The Volt will allow you to control a number of features on the car, making you interact with it. There was a demonstration of this at last weeks LA Auto Show.

We know that there will be apps for BlackBerry handsets and the iPhone, but are not certain if any other cell phones will get the application. Engadget reports that more details will be made available on this, as well as what other features the app will include.

Gm-volt.com thinks that the Chevy Volt will also be able to send signals to the applications, letting it know when a charge cycle is complete. Other information could include if a driver forget to plug the car in for a charge.

Let us know what other functions you think this app will be able to do, or what you would like to see.
