Recently we have seen more and more 2TB hard drives emerge, HotHardware has just received two new Western Digital 2TB models, these are the RE4 2TB and the Caviar Black 2TB.
HotHardware have recently reviewed these two models, they used a Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB hard drive as a reference point throughout all of the benchmarks, you can see their full review here.
Both of the new WD drives boast an impressive 64MB cache, whereas the Seagate only featured a 32MB cache, however the Seagate boasted a better latency (only by 0.04 ms).
In pretty much all benchmarks the Western Digital drives outperformed the Seagate, there were a few exceptions but nothing consistent, out of all of the drives the WD Caviar Black came out the winner, however the price of the drive is over double that of the Barracuda.
