Duster SUV Could Influence Renault Return to U.S. Market

There are rumors that Renault could make a return to the U.S. market, but this all depends on the cheap Duster SUV. The French car manufacturer has not been on North American soil since 1987, this was when their alliance ended with Encore.
Since then, we are not certain if any U.S. driver have missed Renault, but Autoblog did assume that they would have returned once Nissan came onboard with them. It is the Wall Street Journal who has come up with the report, saying that Renault’s CEO, Gerard Detourbet is the man thinking about the return.
The Duster is built by Dacia in Romania but will be sold under the Renault badge once production increases. The Duster is being tested in emerging markets, such as Eastern Europe and South America, if successful then a return to the U.S. would be the next obvious choice.
Detourbet has said that if Renault were to return to North America, then they will need more than one vehicle to do it. The French Automaker will more than likely choose to offer affordable family cars to the U.S. market, this is seen as the most lucrative but the hardest.
Autoblog suggests that we should not expect to see this plan happening for at least three to five years. We do wonder if such a move will ever happen?
