AT&T’s Usage-based data fees: Good or Bad idea?
By: Alan Ng | December 10, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that AT&T are planning to introduce special usage-based fees for data-heavy customers with smartphones such as the iPhone, sooner rather than later. Do you think this is a good long term plan for AT&T or not?
As reported from Computer World, the possibility of this happening was hinted by Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.
At the moment, customers are required to pay a monthly fee for unlimited data usage, in most cases $30 a month, but it looks as if AT&T are looking to put a stop to certain customers who are ‘really’ taking advantage of the unlimited data bundles.
A particular quote from Ralph de la Vega reads: “Longer term, there’s got to be some sort of pricing scheme that addresses the [heavy] users.”
