Asus to Launch Eee Pad: Inspired by Apple Tablet Rumors

By: Peter Chubb | December 10, 2009 | 2 Comments

When we look back in recent months it seems that everyone wants a crack at the tablet PC market, Asus being the latest. The computer maker is thought to be working on this tablet device and will be between 4-inches to 7-inches, the device will be as though an MID and a tablet PC had a love child.

Engadget have not learned much about the device, but they do think that we could see another device from Asus, the Asus Eee PC Touch UI. DigiTimes certainly have a good theory; they believe that the only reason that they want to enter this market is due to the constant Apple Tablet PC rumors.

This is certainly a gamble, until a few days ago the Apple device was only a rumor, but in recent posts, it looks as though the rumors are 70 percent true. We reported that the Apple tablet would enter production in February 2010, with a release date of March or April.

When looking at some of the comments on Engadget, things do get a bit interesting. One reader wonders why anyone would want a tablet device, saying that only “waitress, inventory-taker’s, or sales rep’s” would use such a device.

We know that the Apple tablet will be overpriced for what it is, but we are certain that Asus will make theirs more affordable. We will keep you informed one we learn more.

Whatever Apple comes out with it will include the power of over 100,000. Applications ready for it to run out of the box. To me that alone is worth any extra money that it could possibly cost. The PC industry doesn’t get it. Apple is about great design and pushing to the next level…. Not everything that is less expensive is a good buy.

Inspired by the Apple Tablet that was only just announced, eh? Any reason you are not mentioning the ASUS T91 tablet that came out early last year? It’s an 8.9″ tablet netbook. Looks to me like Apple is taking notes from ASUS, rather than the other way around.
