1,000 Reservations for Ford Fiesta: Pace isn’t Sustainable
By: Peter Chubb | December 10, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe mentioned just over a week ago that the U.S. spec Ford Fiesta was on display at the LA Auto Show, since then things have been a little busy for the blue Oval. It seems that 1,000 customers have put their names down for one of these small vehicles in just the first week.
However, with all good news there is always bad, some analysts believe that this pace will not keep up, but how do we really know. Autoblog Green explains that the Ford Fiesta will cost $13,320; this does not include the $675 destination charge.
One of the reasons for the high number of early adopters could be due to Americans having to wait more than 6 months before Ford made an official announcement on the small car. For those who made a reservation, they will be given a VIP experience at their local Ford dealer.
If these customers then go on to purchase the new Fiesta, they will be given a 595 Sync and Premium Sound package, this will be totally free. If you are interested, then Ford is still offering reservations.
If gas prices stay as low as they are, then future sales of the Fiesta could be in jeopardy, this is according to what CSM Worldwide told Reuters. However, I do not believe this. More and more drivers are beginning to think about the environment and not about the price of gas, so having a smaller car that pushes out less emissions is not going to be a tough choice for them to make.
