Verizon iPhone Prospect Hurt by AT&T 3G Claims

By: Peter Chubb | December 9, 2009 | 3 Comments

Verizon have been doing all they can to try and explain to cell phone users that they have much better 3G coverage than AT&T. The reason why they feel the need to do this is because of the Apple iPhone, the carrier feels put out that they are not able to offer their customers the ultimate smartphone.

However, in a recent study taken out by Root Wireless, it seems that AT&T has faster 3G speeds in a number of key areas, such as New York, Washington D.C., LA and more. Although, thenextweb.com does explain that Verizon still has more 3G coverage.

This latest news that AT&T has faster 3G coverage in key areas and the constant TV ads will do nothing to help Verizon get the iPhone in 2010. Next summer will be the best time for the preferred U.S. cell phone carrier to get the iPhone, as this is when AT&T’s exclusivity with Apple ends.

There are so many ways that we can look at this ongoing saga, customers of both carriers feel it is important to know what kind of service each other gives, but knowing that AT&T offer faster 3G service in a certain area will not come as great news to those who do not get any 3G service.

According to thenextweb.com, most users seem to side with Verizon, all AT&T customers want is more 3G coverage and less dropped calls, is that too much to ask?

Is it true that Verizon network will not let you make a call and surf the web at the same time? How lame is that?

Totally true, and totally lame. It's a technical shortcoming in the CDMA protocol that Verizon (and Sprint and Cricket as well) has chosen (ie; are stuck with). Good luck getting past that problem Verizon…
