Final Fantasy XIII: PS3 and Xbox 360 differences announced

By: Alan Ng | December 9, 2009 | 139 Comments

We have some interesting news for all of you looking to pick up Final Fantasy XIII when it lands next spring, as Square Enix has confirmed some of the changes between the PS3 and Xbox 360 version.

As reported from FinalFantasy-XIII.net, Square Enix were talking in a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu when they revealed the juicy details.

Whether you knew this or not, SE states that the audio and video on the Xbox 360 version will be compressed to fit on DVD, while the PS3 version will remain uncompressed and ship on a dual-layer Blu-Ray disc.

This is further confirmation that the game will ship on multiple Xbox 360 discs, while the uncompressed PS3 version is said to be sized at a minimum of 25GB.

yea but witch one will look better?

  • Limitz

To be honust i knew this news was comming. I own all 3 systems and have said from the start this will be a hands down ps3 title. with the audio and video being compressed the load times when they occur are going to increase significantly. This is unfortunate but SE knew this when they decided to port over to the 360. I really do hope it does not increase the load times so much that you can take a nap between loadings. Also the other good thing is SE has stated the load times will not occur very often, so it will be interesting how much this plays a factor into the differnce (Althought most people wont notice but for the hardcore gamer the Dolby surround sound will be crisper on ps3 due to this as well)

Unfortunatly i see this being the only Final Fantasy that gets ported to the 360 if the load times are unbearable. I hope all the best thought because i adore final fantasy, its my favorite series of all time and theres nothing more that id want then for people that own only a 360 to be able to get into the series.

All in all I hope that im wrong and that the compressed files only slightly increase load times. Only time will tell.

  • Limitz

If you go back throughout the games across dual platform the ps3 versions are crisper, especially the large games due the this exact reason that streaming can be direct rather then have to uncompress the video. I have seen different information all around the net as to what resolution this game is going to run in. Some state 1080p, some 720p. now for the trained eye your only going to noticed a slight difference from 1080i to 1080p. but it is there. The picture is quite a bit crisper (ps3 supports 1080p 360 1080i) so this also depends on what your TV can support as well, as well as if u have component cable, optical or HDMI cables hooking up your system.

But minus all the gibber jabber, the standard ps3 version on a HDTV will be alittle bit crisper then the 360 version. Every game that ive played on both platforms has been this way and this game will be no exception(i expect to see a little more of a difference in this game though)

    Hope that answered your question

  • Ben

    I love multiple discs!

who cares which one looks better! you know what they say, 1080p's dominance over 720p is actually invisable to the human eye.

  • joker1282

what kind of question is that ??

ofcourse BLUE-RAY will look way better than regular XB360 disc…

-this is my fav game of all time, i got the entire collection!

-"final fantasy xiii versus" will be great!!!!!

im deffenitely getting both games :o )

  • Celina Nunes

No Fuss Reviews gave PS3 version 9/10 and 360 version 8/10…

  • Jamie Pert

Lets face it Final Fantasy games have been much more about story-line gameplay, therefore as long as them two elements are there I am not gonna sit back and count how many DPI there are on my display during a cut-scene.

As for the multiple disc issue I really don't understand it, changing a disc twice during a huge game like that is not going to cause any issue, the only thing it will allow you to do is lend your friend disc 1 or 2 when you have finished it. Is that not a pro?

  • Mark

I don't care how bad the gimped Xbox version is, as long as it does not affect how good the PS3 one ends up.

I'm sick of gimped games on PS3 purely because of the Xbox limitations like lack of dedicated servers, DVD size or no standard HDD.

  • FF Fan

    The Xbox 360 supports 1080p.

Overall, the games will look good on both consoles. The nice part about the PS3 is you won't have to change discs in the middle of playing. It is yet to be seen that the compression will effect the 360 but just that respect the PS3 version should perform better because uncompressed is always better.

In the past multi platform games have been rated better on the 360 than the PS3…not sure what sites you are reading.

  • Ray

The PS3 versions of course. The White Engine Square used to make the game is a PS3 engine. The Cut scenes will also run at 1080p on the PS3 and 720p on the 360.

  • Ray

no its not. maybe to yours. i can tell the difference. a significant one too.

  • Ray

i was worried about this game from the moment they announced it was going multiplatform. Im sure they made some changes to accomidate the lack of power in the xbox when compared to the PS3 but i dont think they made to many changes. Just the fact they are willing to admit the PS3 version will have better quality video and audio shows that square never intended to make FFXIII another mediocre multiplat "that must be equal" to its counter part. They have always done great work on Sony platforms, and since this started out as a PS3 game, it will stay a PS3 game in these respects.

Xbox is done, i hope Square starts a trend, shows developers they dont have to limit their creativity to the Xbox and half ass everything. They can go all out on the PS3 then port to the Xbox. give the inferior machine the inferior version.

  • Ray

yea yea, if this were flipped and the PS3 was getting the inferior version you bots would be stickin your finger in our faces right now. too bad…

  • low

yea then why do 3rd party games look better on the 360. well as long as game play is good on both systems then i guess ti do really matter.

  • Kaden101

Depends on the size of your TV. If it's under 50" at normal viewing differences you can't tell the difference.

To highlight this, we had a 40" Samsung 720p with a dead pixel. It was almost in the centre of the screen. On a purely white screen at normal viewing distance you couldn't even see it. If you can't see a black pixel on a white screen then how can you tell the difference.

We've now got a 40" Samsung 1080p TV (due to an accidental flying DualShock 3 incident & an insurance claim! whoops!) & the picture looks exactly the same. The audio is better on the new TV, but there's nothing in the picture.

If you've got a 60" TV, then yes I could see it making a small difference.

  • Werty

Ps3 version will be better. I have no doubt about it. Third party games now look better on ps3. In the past 360 looked better now 360 looks like wii compare to ps3.

  • Ray

i could tell the difference on my 36" Samsung Projection HD tv. i changed the Display res on the PS3 only display 1080p, and i saw a solid difference. Since then i have upgraded to a 52" LCD Samsung full 1080p and i can tell the difference. There is a difference. However minute it is, its still clearly visable.

  • Ray

no it doesnt. its a forced upscale by the consoles chip. its not true full 1080p. its no different then a DVD player upscaling a dvd image to 1080p. With the PS3 having a blue ray player, the image or game can be rendered as such to display in full 1080p without a forced upscale.

  • Ray

because a great majority of developers build the game on an engine optimized for the xbox then port it over to the SP3 without doing any of the extra work. this isnt the case with this game. the White Engine(used to make Final Fantasy XIII) was built from the ground up and optimized for the for the PS3. remember, this wasnt always a multiplatform game. Ports never turn out equal. the system that gets the port will get an inferior copy. In this case, the Xbox is getting the port.

  • Ray

its not only going to increase load times, its going to drop the sound quality significantly. the difference in the video will not be as bad but the audio for sure will suffer. Compressed audio stinks for games especially for those who use a surround sound system. Take MGS4 for example, the best audio ive heard on a game this gen. Kojima took a lot of time getting that Dolby Digital sound right and the reason he was able to do that was because of the size of teh blue ray. MGS4 was a 50gb game, much of it was umcompressed surround audio. Glad that Square didnt compromise this with Final Fantasy XIII just to be fair to Xbots.

  • cochese

Wow. Historically, there are no third party games that look better on PS3. Very close, but not better. The White Engine was built as a multi-platform engine. Not a dedicated PS3 engine. Load times will probably be faster on the 360 due to the faster read spead of it's DVD drive as compated to a 2x Blu-Ray. The only place the load time will be faster is when it's time to disc swap. Also, the 360 could never look like a Wii in comparison. The compressed audio will probably go unnoticed by the majority and I highly doubt FFXIII will be the last on the 360. I can't imagine the 360 version selling less than 500,000 copies and Square-Enix not wanting to capitalize on that the next time around. It's called money. Get the fuck over your console preference and just enjoy the games you have while you can.

Face-it. The PS3 and 360 are pretty much equals. Blu-Ray aside. And no, HD isn't even an issue because most games on both consoles barely rate 720p, let alone 1080i or p.

  • Dave

    Ray says:

December 9, 2009 at 7:12 pmi could tell the difference on my 36″ Samsung Projection HD tv. i changed the Display res on the PS3 only display 1080p, and i saw a solid difference. Ray, there is no way you could see the difference on a 36" tv, it would be impossible. Sorry, but your mind is playing tricks on you.

Now, that being said, as a 360 owner, I freely admitt the PS3 version will likely be better visually. But I will still be happy to get the game. Also, we will see if a hard drive install makes a difference, who knows, but at least a hard drive install will eliminate disk swapping.

  • Steve

Ray is wrong a lot because Ray leaves lots of comments. The Xbox 360 supports true 1080p in games that natively support it. With games that don't, it upscales them from say 720p or 1080i to 1080p.

  • Ray

actually sir your wrong. dispite what square claims now, the white engine, IS a PS3 engine.

  • Ray

also, how can you claim they are the same when ZERO games on the xbox even compare to titles like Uncharted 1 and 2, Killzone 2 and God of War III? Gears of War 2 pushed the xbox to its limits. Says who? Epic games, the dev who makes Gears. stop trying to defend the xbox. its obvious its an inferior piece of hardware. no need to deny it anymore. the proof is in hte pudding and Cosby just gave MS the cold shoulder.

  • Ray

theres no way I, Me, could notice a differences says you?

because you see things through my pearly blue eyes? right.

  • Scoob101

Just nonsense. The same 5 games (you forgot heavy rain) are all you boys use to claim ps3 is superior. 5 bloody games. thats all you have.

All my favourite games are multiplatform titles, and they all look the same on both machines unless you play with a microscope.

Face it. PS3 was over hyped and it under delivered. Thats why its still languishing in last place, and barely making money for Sony. What ever happened to the glory days of the PS2?

Cell is dead. Its was a stupid idea and it didn`t work. Perhaps Sony will design a real games console next time rather than a technology showcase for cell and blu ray.

    Happy Christmas.

  • Greg

So in other words, in every important detail, they'll be exactly the same. Thanks for the scoop.

  • Ray

and how many do you have to show for the Xbox? Halo, Gears, fable and Forza..thats about it.

All Xbox exclusives are possible on PS3 but not all PS3 exclusives are possible on Xbox. Get over it! Sony has found their stide and the Box is done.

if you must know theres more then 5.

    Uncharted Drakes Fortune

    Uncharted 2 Among Theives

    MGS4

    Killzone 2

    God of War III

    Heavy Rain

    GT5

Ratchet and Clank Tools and A Crack in Time

    Demons Souls

Final Fantasy XIII now cause its been admitted to be superior. the list goes on my friend.

Wow! You managed to list 10 exclusive games. Be still my beating heart. Thats really going to change the face of gaming. Youre so desperate, you even list games that aren`t even released yet. Thats sad.

Exlusives are a dying breed, games just cost too much to produce these days. To the vast majority of normal, well balanced gamers (i.e. not you) theres precious little to tell the 2 brands apart. Deal with it. Your beloved Sonys glory days are long gone. PS3 isn`t a market leader its a market loser. Compared to the PS2 its just an expensive failure.

  • Scoob101

    @Ray

Heres something else showing how exlusives are becoming increasingly irrelevant.

    http://www.psxextreme.com/scripts/polls/polls.asp

Half of PS3 owners polled voted for multiplatform titles as their best game of 2009.

    HALF!

If Ps3 exlusives are supposed to be showing how the console is so much better than the competition, why are half your people preferring multi platform titles?

  • http://Examiner.com Daniel

Wrong dude. No games that are cross platform look better on PS3. Take Ghostbusters for example. HD on Xbox, not even 3/4 hd on PS3. With an update it wasn't even fixed.

Modern Warfare 2 is way better on Xbox than PS3 where frame rate is concerned.

  • az

Yeah like the ps3 version has better resolution and uncompressed data etc but if this game was an exclusive im sure SE would take more advantage of the cell than they have due to it being muiltiplat so while its better on the ps3 its still not the very best it could be with the consoles potential

  • Uchiha_Silver

seriously wth why does everyone flame each other over consoles *sigh* all of them are good otherthan nintendo Wii >.> too gimmicky for my tastes, sure i prefer FFXIII to be on one disc who doesnt but to everyone who keeps flaming PS3 for whatever reason remember final fantasy is Sony's to begin with just be grateful you're getting it i say, and all PS3 fans yes PS3 version will be better because it was the console it was originally designed for but the Final Fantasy series has never been about visuals and audio lol its been about the story and characters, if youre looking to play for te graphics thsi game is definately not for you.

As for people going on about exclusives in my opinion, yes PS3 has the better exclusives i have a 360 halo edition but Xbox is not even bothering with theirs so much now and all they keep doing is trying to prolong halo for whatever reason T_T i lost interest in halo after halo 2 as they were all the same really but even still theyre are so little exclusives now that it doesnt justify it in anyway whatsoever, just be glad were all getting the game other than nintendo fan boys xD maybe you guys should shut up arguing and discuss games properly without flame wars and we might just get along better lol =P please.

  • http://www.myspace.com/bravesfan1988 Carlos88

Well, i have to admit that Sony had bad luck when the ps3 came out because of the super high price it had but if we're gonna talk about console vs. console, every wise person and not a 360 freak will tell that the Ps3 is better and more than that everyone knows the ps3 version of FF-XIII will be better, even u dont admit BRD are better than DVD's at this point. The ps3 WAS a loser when it came out, but after the price cut it has been sold more than the 360. In conclusion i gotta remind you that the 360 its the worst built console and an overheating machine, and here's the proof:

oh and i didnt made up that pictures, its from the #197 edition of GameInformer magazine(Rockband cover)

  • Anon

Sorry to say guys, but exclusives will always be around. It's just how things roll. There's always going to be and endless dispute until one company goes out of business. And I really don't see that happening to Sony or Microsoft. So everybody here who's being a crazy ass bitch srsly needs to stfu and get over it. While I do prefer the PS3 it's really just because I can download old PS1 games and have a blast haha. But 360 is cool too. I mean the 360 can still play Phantom Dust and that will always make me very happy.

  • Cameron

What are you talking about? If you look at the major game review sights you will see that the ratings for both cosoles are the same. Very few times does the 360 multiplat get a better rating than the PS3. There are a very few times that the PS3 multiplat games get a higher rating than 360.

  • captsquik

actually, Modern Warfare 2 looks WAY better on PC, and isn't worth playing at all on console. I don't usually play PC games, but MW2 really is better on PC.

as far as xbox vs. ps3, Ray is right about how developers port things. If you build it on xbox first, it's hard to port to PS3. if it's built on PS3, it's hard to port to 360.

My thoughts are that this game is going to have similar issues as Last Revenant, and… that other 360 game Square did. it will probably have loading issues, and streaming issues.. which will be annoying, but not unplayable.

  • Sarah

OMG so many fanboys here O__O And so many wrong stuffs… 99% of games on PS3 and Xbox 360 are 720p or less (with or without AA)some RARE games runs at a true (non upscaled) 1080P (like sacred 2 or virtua tennis 3 on both systems and some PSN/Xbox Live Arcade games).

Actual Blu Ray players are slower than DVD players so even if datas are compressed on DVD there's a chance to load faster. Anyway we can copy FFXIII on the hard drive so we won't be anoyed by the blu ray's speed.

The resolution of a game is not linked to the used media and you can store 1080p video on a DVD, u'll just get far less memory space. It's amazing how some people refuse to admit that on this generation the power of two systems are VERY close. I own a PS3 and my bf has an Xbox and it's all the same. And btw, some people said "Virtua Fighter 5 is impossible on Xbox" and they got a clearly better version one year later. Same for Tekken 6 (wich is ugly on both system…). Why do ppl discuss about something almost invisible? O__o it's all self persuasion…

Let's enjoy FFXIII on whatever system and who cares if there are 2 or 3 disc and barely visible difference in videos or using a 100000$ audio system that nobody has…

  • Charles

    Not entirely accurate.

A 2x BluRay drive is faster than a 12x DVD in terms of mb per sec.

    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/show_blog_e…

Other than that, different games have different 'looks' on 360 vs PS3 to me. Some look better on the Playstation, others; on the Box.

    Just enjoy the game y'all.

  • james

who cares if there is a minute difference between them, get over it and just enjoy the epicness of this game

  • Pat021

This is what everybody forgot to say yes FFXIII will look and play better on the PS3, Yes i'm buying it for PS3.

Yes FFXIII looks bomb but, Versus will look even better way cuz it's Exclusive and will stay exclusive, whey cuz the gameplay looks just as good as the Cutscenes. And with all the problems there having with XIII makes it impossible to port. PS. EndOFStory Xbots cuz we all knew it would happen soon LOL

  • PB&J

Actually your wrong. Sabotouer got a higher rating on PS3 because the developers figured out a special way to do AA that only the ps3 could manage and it looked way better on the PS3, and yes 360 just upscales to 1080p(even the ones that say it is 1080p).

In terms of Final Fantasy, the PS3 version will be better looking simply because the 360 and ps3 team were not the same. The whole time they ported the 360 version the PS3 team was just polishing.

  • PB&J

Umm no, ps3 sales are up over like 1000%. Its the only system selling right now. 299.99 was all people needed to hear and the fact that 360's are still in the 54% failure rate area and ps3 is in the 10%, people are going with the better built system. Cell is not dead, the system is just getting started. And yeah there are 5 games just in the begining of this year. 360 has Mass Effect2 and thats on PC as well.

  • whatever

Until all the fanboys actually see a X360 version and PS3 version, please shut up. Based on that source, the only difference is audio at this point. Now we'll just have to wait to see the REAL difference with compression. How much better will uncompressed sound in most households that don't have 7.1 systems? This should be compared on 5.1 or 2.1 since that is more common. Compressed doesn't mean SIGNIFICANT quality loss and/or longer load times.

On another note, UC2, LBP, and MGS4 are the only real exclusives. KZ2 and the rest of the games aren't that great, and I could find equivalent interesting games on other systems including PCs. An exclusive has to be great; otherwise, who cares? A fanboy.

  • Gasman

Sigh. X360 and its successors will remain until the product doesn't meet expectations. The fact it sells is enough. The next gen will be even more powerful. Sony plans on returning to a more PC like structure next gen versus the "Cell 2." Exclusives will be there, but they are becoming more irrelevant. The best games this year save 1 maybe 2 are multiplatform.

Right now, PS3 has 3 exclusive that I like MGS4, UC2, LBP. When GOW3 and the real GT5 is out, I'll consider the 300 dollar investment. Games define the system, and it took PS3 a LONG time to make it worth. But I guess it's better late than never.

  • Joe

GOD!!! Will people just face the fact that the PS3 is the Sega Dreamcast of this console generation!!?? I'm going to laugh when the reviews are the same for FF13 on both systems. Also, if anyone thinks superior hardware makes for a more successful system…..you'll notice the WII is wiping it's ass with the 360 and PS3 in sales and they are not losing hundreds of dollars per unit shipped.

  • SD403

This past summer we finally got a 50" Samsung 1080p set, and thanks to the price drop, a 120GB PS3 Slim for Christmas.

I've had a 360 (w/ 20GB HD) since X-mas of '07, and haven't ever had an issue (/knocks on wood). Both look great on the new set.

    But…

I don't see why virtually every employee trying to sell me games is pushing the PS3 so much, touting how it's "the only system that's fully HD". Are Blu-Ray movies capable of it? Yes. But every single game that I've checked so far lists two resolutions: 480p and 720p.

If it looks great even though it's upscanned, I'm cool with that. If it's native 1080p, that's great too.

Either way, why waste playing time picking on what someone else bought?

  • http://www.nekohost.net Gabriella

I'm reading your comment and eying my 360 doing 1080p, and wondering as to the legitimacy of your words now. Please fact check.

  • bridgerbot

"No games that are cross platform look better on PS3."

No, you're wrong, Ninja Gaiden Sigma II looks better on the PS3 than on the 360.

  • Controvi

I dont know what the fuss is all about.

i am a wii and xbox 360 owner and never had a PS in my life.

only to see how (if im not mistaking) Star Ocean The Lost Hope came from the Xbox to ps3.

with in my vision no difference in quality.

only thing i just hated was the addition of some details.

    (cant recal exactly what)

but i am one of the few gamers i think that dont give a SHIT about how the game looks.

    ……

well im lying a bit but overall i dont care if the game has less details from another console.

as long as the gameplay and the story are well thought out.

only to look @ the need for speed most wanted i had for the gamecube.

it was for xbox ps gamecube and i thought it looked way cooler on the xbox but i went for gameplay.

so why not wait for the game to be released before beginning to argue about things we dont know till the release.

i think final fantasy for the xbox will be just as good as the ps3 version although it could have less quality sound or visuals.

  • whatever

That article you cited only said the next generation of that cell processor is dead, as confirmed by an IBM spokesperson. Other tech in the same cell processor family is still being developed, and i think it was a pretty big success considering games still haven't used it to its fullest capabilities. JUST SAYIN

  • FF fan forever

Well I have been with sony for a long time. I just got my 360 for christmas. I think that the PS3 will look a little better but not much. The MAIN best thing MS did was release there system early. Thus forth more people got Xbox and the gaming companies backed them up a lot. Game library was high already by the time PS3 came out. Sony's way overpriced there system as usual and that caused publishers to focus there time on XBox. Since so many people bought an XBox, why not make them comparable. Multi platform game sales will go down and they will lose more money later. With a slight difference in games, some people will want to get both copies.

AS far as the war between consoles go, Xbox will win this time around. They have a great new product coming out that will destroy the wii. More so. Sony has more potential though. Even Cnet agrees. They just need to learn from there mistakes. If there is no new gen console coming up within the next couple of years. I can see sony's PS3 moving up the ranks. There technology has always been great. They will come up with something put Xbox back in its second ranked position. Xbox will inspire them to have something better.

As for right now, I have no preference. But Im getting FFXIII on PS3.

  • mike
  • Ben

O no aparently sound is a very important detail. Can't play a game if it doesn't sound nice.

  • James

Ray I have all three systems and there is nothing wrong with what your calling a crappy system. I love the Final Fantasy series always have and always will. If your beloved PS3 is so high and mighty then why is square starting to transfer to 360? Maybe because its platform sales have been crap since the launch day of the rushed PS3. I have a PS3 and its good for 2 things right now Blue-Ray and all my Final Fantasy games. AND look at your beloved system now! It doesnt even have SD slots they cut back on USB ports AND ITS NOT EVEN BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE ANYMORE! So these PS3s are USELESS!!! There is nothing like sitting back and popping in FF7 and using Cloud to kill anything and everything possible. But no…. Sony says "its too expensive to keep backwards compatibility" go blow yourself Sony its not that bad. And finally to end my rant against your moronic comments you complain about this Multi-Disc for the 360? Your a MORON and HOW DARE you call yourself an Final Fantasy fan or even PLAYER! All the Final Fantasy games until 10 were what? OH YEA! THATS RIGHT! MULTI DISC! And guess what?! They were amazing! I love them ALL! So go blow yourself and shut your mouth maybe do a little research before you talk.

  • James

The 360 an overheating machine? Im sorry but what console was responcible for thousands of house fires? O right PS3 sony is still paying out thier asses for that. Retard….

  • JP

Both consoles are relying on old technology anyway. It's 2010.

HOW DARE you call yourself an Final Fantasy fan or even PLAYER! All the Final Fantasy games until 10 were what? OH YEA! THATS RIGHT! MULTI DISC! And guess what?!

Dude, maybe you should do a little research. Everything before 7 was on a cartridge not multiple disc… and you call your self a fan.

  • John

first this guy Ray does not know how to write in English, he makes so many mistakes, and honestly he is just a moron who knows nothing, I am sorry but it's true, it is not "Visable but visible" he wrote it like a million time, to talk about the issue we have here, some people are saying that because the XBOX 360 has a DVD it can not do 1080p well they are wrong, these are games and not movies, when you design a game, you choose the resolution you want it to display, and yes they can set it to 1080p native, for the compression of video, this of it as a Zip file then the xbox unzip it and uses its RAM memory to play it, for the Sound well that it's true uncompressed sound is way better than Compressed sound ! what I can say is that if you have an XBOX 360 or a PS3, you are lucky to play one of the greatest gaming series of all times, if you have both systems go for the PS3 then.

  • Craigjango

Just to let limitz know, 720p is 720 lines on the screen all at once (progressive scan) and 1080I an interlaced picture (half the lines on the screen at once 540 odd and 540 even) so a 720p picture will be crisper than 1080I ….so there is a marked difference between 1080I and 1080P (1080 lines showing 1920pixels per line or 540 lines showing 1920pixels per line)…. no matter what tho I can't wait for the new ff and think it will be awesome on both platforms

  • Dom

Some have mentioned the need to change discs and files to be uncompressed on the Xbox 360. This may be true if you have a smaller hard drive. If you have a larger hard drive you should simply be able to install the entire game on your hard drive and play it from there. I have done this with Forza 2, which ships with 2 discs and MW2, both seem to load quicker from the hard drive. Haven't noticed a difference in graphics. With all that said, I would still rather play this one on the PS3.

  • Thalinor

A lot of you seem like little children, I can't stand this crap. You should not be allowed to use the internet till you are 18 unless it’s under guidance at school.

I am an adult with a Job, so I have the money to own BOTH the Xbox360 and PS3 as well as a lice 47” XBR4. Let me clear some things up for you dumb ignorant children. I won’t be back to this board, so feel to flame away if it makes your selves feel more empowered.

Xbox360 titles that say “1080p” on the box are mostly true 1080p. To the moron that said they are upscaled, this is only when you play dvd videos off of the system. Xbox360 disks contain Programming DATA you ignorant jerk, not compressed video. If you don’t know what you are talking about then don’t speak, sit in the corner and be quiet. Now, I say it’s mostly true because depending on the game, if the cut scenes are movies and not rendered by the in game engine, then they may be up scaled. In the case of the upscaling, they would be 480 upscaled to 1080p because DVD players are not HD.

Now on the PS3 vs Xbox360 issue, if you don’t have both systems you don’t earn the right to speak on this issue. Sorry. I am tired of you fanboy fanatical idiots that can’t have a constructive conversation without getting all emotional about your gaming system. With this said, my PS3 does not get used as much because the games usually look better on the 360, mainly because these screwball developers refuse to program ps3 games in 1080p. To those of you who say there is not a difference, why don’t you stop being trash and braking your tv with the controller in a childish fit of rage and buy a real one. On my XBR4 anyone can tell a difference between 720p and 1080p.

Most non exclusive releases look better on the 360 hands down. Sorry ps3 fanboys, it’s the truth. With that said, if this release is going to be done on a Blu-Ray and not a DVD like every other PS3 release, then we are finally seeing the dawn of the PS3 being worth using. If this is true, bravo Square! If the PS3 ver is 1080p and on Blu-Ray, it will win the matchup hands down. Initial load times will be slower, but once ingame, load times will be nearly nonexistent, framerates should be better, and visually it will look better then the 360’s compressed textures. If 360 does not compress the textures, instead uses many DVD disks, IMO you will only see a slight visual difference, mostly in the cutscenes if they are movies. If this is the case, where the PS3 will really shine is the AUDIO and not having to change disks. They will also probably take advantage of a slightly better AA/AF if they were coded for the PS3.

As a side note it should be noted that White Knight which is being released on the PS3 in a few weeks also says 1080p. I think PS3 game developers are finally pulling their head out of their back sides and realizing if they want to sell PS3 games they can’t cheep out on the resolution. The only reason I bought Tiger Woods 10 for the PS3 because was my friends who played it used that system. I have rented the 360 version and not only is it 1080p vs PS3’s 720p but it looks far better than the PS3 version. It’s sickening; screw EA for being lazy and not doing a better porting job.

  • Fan Dumb

Lulz. you people kill me :)

  • Omegasgod

Well Thailinor is pretty much a complete imbecile.

    I've yet to see a Playstation 3 game that isn't on blu-ray.

And your XBR4 pales horribly in comparison to my Samsung LED B8000

And I'm just a guy in college, with a job, and all three systems along with a Denon 7.1 surround system.

    Some people are just bad.

    So…..so bad.

  • roflmao

euh sorry but, bluray is much much slower than the dvd drive used by the xbox, so technically the xbox would have faster load times, and if that fails, you can install it on hdd :D

  • Dylan

They just recently announced that the xbox 360 version and the ps3 version are actually running on different engines. the ps3 is running on the white tools, and the xbox is running on something else. hmmm. It would make porting a hell of a lot easier I guess

  • Emperor Rosko

I dont get why people bum ONE system!! Why do people 'either' love Sony or Microsoft??? If your a game lover like myself and love all things electronic and technological then you should have as many platforms as possible! I have every game system going (360, PS3, a beast of a PC, Wii, DSi, and all of the older rubbish systems) that way i can see a game i like, and play it on the system i believe is better, i can also enjoy all exclusives and never miss the chance to play a GOOD GAME, not just slating games because i cant play them! Get ya hands in ya pockets and buy more systems you set of freaks!

  • Nooneimportant

Uh, yeah. There's a pretty big difference between 720p and 1080p on any screen greater than 40". You can kid yourself all you want, but it isn't going to change the truth.

  • Camden

Wrong. The engines were built for both platform separately to maximize the performance and prevent porting.

Didn't the simultaneous development on both the PS3 and the XBOX360 cause difficulties?

KITASE: We have made it our top priority to deliver the same quality on both consoles. It was self-evident that it brought some difficulties with it. Both consoles require a different approach. Especially on the graphics section. We had to build a different engine for both versions. We needed a year of tinkering on each engine in order to get the same level of graphics.

Note the last part: "…tinkering on each engine to get the same level of graphics."

  • Trasce

John, you can't criticize someone for saying "visable" when you do even worse. Examples: "like a million time, to talk about the issue we have here"

"this of it as a Zip file then the xbox unzip it"

Not to mention the fact that you capitalized the words Sound and Compressed in the middle of one giant run-on sentence.

  • Scott

I own both consoles play them through a 47" lcd and i cant tell the difference in quality between them sometimes lighting is a bit different but usually for me it comes down to which controller i would prefer to play a game with, for ffxiii i will be playing it on the ps3 as i prefer the ps3 controller on this type of game, everyone has there own personal preferences though,

  • Nobody Special

I have been reading through all these comments and besides those off topic rants about whether Final Fantasy was Multi Disc or Cartridge, and whether or not people know how to type proper English, there is only one major topic of discussion. And that is The Graphics. Personally, as a gamer since the early 90's(I'm only 19), my first experience with Final Fantasy was FF7, then FFX and after that I returned to all previous installments, except Crystal Chronicles(I could never bring myself to own a Gamecube). Now in my humble opinion the ONLY thing that really grabbed me was the storyline and gameplay. I seriously do not care the least bit whether the characters hair is on a free moving plane. Or if the water does in fact show a true to life reflection. I personally own a 360, and I love it. It is an amazing console, hands down. Yes, it does have it's faults and yes, it's not being bought en masse to create a supercomputer, but if ALL you want to argue about is the graphics, go the fuck outside. Take a look at the world around you, thats the best damn graphics you will ever see. Developers can make a game that could graphically blow your mind, but don't lie to yourself and tell us you will buy it no matter the story. If Hello Kitty's Mystery Island was in 1080p, I can tell you that all those Killzone and Gears fans won't be rushing to the store to buy it. But I digress, In my own honest opinion, as long as the graphics aren't 16 bit quality I am perfectly fine with prerendered hair and non-interactive objects. All I care about is if the story can hold my attention. But as I finish this I realize that most of you probably won't even take the time to read this.

  • Andrew C.

There is a difference but if your sitting far enough away from the set the difference is undetectable. This is why computer monitors have such high resolutions. Its due to the fact that we sit so close to them and if they didn't we would see the individual pixels. Get close enough to a 720p display that you can begin to see individual pixels. Now get as close to a 1080p set that is the same size and you will not be able to see the individual pixels due to their smaller size. There are conversion charts on line that show based on the size and native resolution of your display how far away you should sit to take full advantage.

  • Jon

"Mirror's Edge" for the playstation3 performed better (graphically) than the xbox260 version. I have that game demo on both of my consoles, and the Playstation 3's version is noticeably better.

  • Jon

Daniel..if you have not checked yet, then you need to see "Mirror's Edge" for both consoles. It performed better (graphically)on the playstation 3 than the xbox360 version. I have that game demo on both of my consoles, and the Playstation 3's version is noticeably better… it's just the way it is.

What does this have to do with FF13? This game will look better on PS3. end of story

multi disc is always inferior end of story!! i say this cause i experience it in star ocean 4 farming clay!! changing disc every time i change planet!! install is not an option for me that time i only have 20gig xbox and almost full storage!!, well im happy because it became multi plat, if i dont have money i'll buy it on xbox360 pirated (thanks piracy i play almost all the game in xbox and multiplat) eventhough xbox360 can play pirated games i still prefer ps3 games!! dont know why but the games in ps3 are much more appealling to me!!

  • god

have fun with 576p on Xbox…

  • Anon

I love the PS3, but it's the egotistical fanboys that make me have second thoughts about it. A true FF fan would not care about the quality. I have a 360 due to the PS3 being overpriced when it came out. I have been a fan of the series since FFIII, and I for one am psyched that it is being released on the 360! :)

  • The Euden

nerd fight… both systems are good. I have both and end up getting most of the multi-platform titles for the 360 because everyone I know owns one (for online play) and I like the controller better (the ps3 controller feels to small in my hands and I hate how the R2 L2 buttons are semi circles, they should be concaved so your fingers do not have a tendency to slip off. Also, my controller's blutooth connection will sometimes briefly lose connection with the ps3, causing some unnecessary deaths and frustration).

I just wanted to know if either system has exclusive content rights to this game, because that will determine which system I buy it for. And as regards to the endless bickering about which system is better… WTF? I grew up playing NES/SNES/Genesis/N64. From where Im sitting I dont have much to complain about… except the controller.

  • Boyden

I own every gaming system that has ever been released, and for everyone bitching about which is better: PS3 or Xbox 360, it doesn't really matter. They both serve the purpose of entertaining and who gives a damn if one might look slightly better. The only thing you should think about is which controller would you prefer to use hours at a time? Not like any gameplay is going to be restricted due to a system.

Ok, look, all technicalities aside – Final Fantasy XIII is in True High Definition on the PS3, and it's NOT on the 360. End of story. And I'm really sorry to burst the Microsoft but-kissers bubbles, but If you get a decent HD TV and play a HD film on it, then play the same film on dvd in an ordinary dvd player, on the same TV model alongside, you cannot argue the difference is there. It's not so easy perhaps to see this with a game – and this is the first true HD game 1080p. The Xbox 360 version will be in 576p (pffft ha hah aha hah ahaaa – Sorry) SO…. Better image quality. Sorry Bill, should have put more love into your console eh? Look, the fact is, 360 is an excellent console, and it's got some awesome games, the third party ones many of which looked sleeker etc on 360 (so i'm told). But we all know the reason for this is that they where made with 360 in mind because it's easier I.O.W cheaper. The PS3 is capable of more because it's more powerful, and you can't deny that. So when the games where ported to the ps3 they where rushed, and didn't translate well enough, so lost some edge. But that has begun to dissappear now, as companies are more used to the ps3 and how it works. We're also seeing newer ps3 exclusives that look gorgeous, and not just in a wow that's shiny way, but in a SH17 That looks so real. Take a look at some clips of heavy rain or uncharted 2. I'd love to see the 360 sssssttttrrrruuuuuggggllllee to perform these games properly. Sorry, it's just that I don't like microsoft. They don't do enough for their fans, they deserve better than faulty consoles (regualr breakdowns) no HD or blu ray player (we all know dvds are on the way out) and paying for online gaming! That's just shows they care more about the money than their loyal xbox buyers. But as you all know Sony who's net worth is obviously less than Microsoft do pay extra for their loyal PS people. Now i'm not saying the there are no games that look real on the 360, or that it can't produce 1080p in theory. But I am saying that so far it hasn't acheived 1080, and therefore XIII will indeed look nicer to anyone that isn't in denial or has been brainwashed by MR Gates. Who he hasn't had an agonising session with a microsoft product at least once? Honestly? I've never had a problem with a sony product. Ever. Oh yeah, and dvd's can scratch and break yeah? Try doing that to blu-ray. Go – on try it. Ha ha ha. Oh dear, your cat scratched your copy of FFXIII on 360?? Sorry. You could probably let your puppy chew on the blu-ray (not sure about that actually but you see what I'm saying). Furthermore compare loading times vs quality. Yeah.
SO at the end of the day, who's going to come out better for it? PS-fans, oh yes they will. And the satisphaction from reading this articule is almost to much for me.
OH! And while 360 people are busy playing the only game genres 360 can offer (mostly) – free roaming cardboaurd story games like oblivion, and repetative Fist person shooters, paying for repairs, and paying extra for a bluray or (inferior) HD DVD player, I'll be watching blu rays and playing FFXIII in 1080p. (with my wonderfully built NON-breaking console).

Oh, and enjoy your upcoming 360 line up – Halo 300000. I'm gonna be checking out some of these:

God of war III, Heavy rain, Gran Turismo 5, FFXIV online (no pay), Versus XIII (Oh yes), Resistance 3, Killzone 3, Agent, Yakuza 4, Infamous 2, Metal Gear Online!!, Modnation racers, Twisted metal, White Night Chronicles 2…. want more? All PS-Exclusives Mchwa! *kisses ps3*

Xboxportable? Like that's ever going to happen. XBP lol.
Oh yeah and something called ps3d. Don't know if you've heard of it.

    P.S:

Yeah I agree, don't feel bad about it, it's the same game and it rules, the differences aren't major.
Oh wait… 360=normal, PS3=1080pHD… On second thought it might be better to say don't worry, second best is almost first, it least its not as bad as wii right? Yeah…

So Microsoft can suck on my new sony motion-sensor controller!! (when it comes out)

  • Jack

Oh I boobed abit (I think). FFXIII will be in 1080p. In game 720 upscaled to 1080p, cutscenes are TRUE 1080pHD which is a first (as far as I know in games).
Oh an Thalinor get your head out your backside, anyone can get a job and buy a couple of consoles and a decent TV. It's funny you going on about people being ignorant children etc, when you spurt childish comments like:

"sit in the corner and be quiet" – sorry, what corner?

and "why don’t you stop being trash and braking your tv with the controller in a childish fit of rage
and buy a real one. On my XBR4 anyone can tell a difference between 720p and 1080p" – Your right, we should all grow up and be jealous of your amazing television.

and "I won’t be back to this board, so feel to flame away if it makes your selves feel more empowered." – That sounds pretty childish. Empowered? That's so dumb. Oh, but you won't be back to read it, so that'll rile em all up and make them all feel bad.

Who are you directing this at anyway? Jeeze.

  • Matt

DVD read speed is only faster than DVD on the outside of the disc. This is because DVD is CLV, or constant linear velocity, while blu-ray is CAV, or constant angular velocity. The difference is pretty easy to understand. Basically DVDs read very fast at the outside of the disc where most content is generally located, but the closer you get to the middle the slower read times become. At the very middle read times slow down to 2X which is terrible. FFXIII is huge and content is located throughout the entire disc. This causes problems in both loading between zones and also when loading textures into graphical memory. A lot of data has to be put closer to the middle of the disc in order to ensure low production costs. Realize that roughly half of any DVD is going to be the game engine and common texture/audio files. This information is going to be as close to the edge of the disc as possible because it is read more often, while zone information will be closer to the middle because the speed at which it is read is less crucial to game performance.

What does it mean? It means that load times will be relatively high, just like in Mass Effect 2. Why does the PS3 not suffer from this problem? Two reasons. First reason is because Blu-Ray has Constant Angular Velocity. The entire disc is read at the same speed. PS's Blu-Ray is much slower than 360's DVD at the edge of the disc, but over 3 times faster at the middle of the disc. This is why initial load times are so much longer than the 360, but zone loading is generally much faster on the PS3, with some exceptions of course. Seek time is slow on the ps3, but this can easily be circumvented through hard drive streaming which is a very common practice on the PS3 for developers now. The 360 can't take advantage of this because the 360 does not have a guaranteed hard drive. That's the main reason that you rarely see 360 games with more than one disc btw. Developers don't like to waste half of every DVD by copying the engine and common graphic/audio files over and over. It gets expensive when you're pushing out millions of CDs. They just cut out content and compress textures and audio more to save space. That's the number one reason exclusives look way better on the PS3. Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

Hard drive streaming allows the PS3 to send data that will be needed soon to the hard drive for use during periods where the blu-ray reader does not need to read information from the disc. This is why Uncharted 2 has very little load time and why FFXIII has almost no load time for the PS3 version (already confirmed so don't bother arguing). Basically, FFXIII was designed with the PS3 in mind, the 360 is easy to port to because you pretty much just have to take out cell instructions and you're good to go.

Also the statement that Sony is barely gaining money off the PS3 is very wrong. The PS3 is single-handedly pushing blu-ray sales. Sony makes a lot of money off of blu-ray. The PS3 has probably made more money for Sony than the 360 has made for Microsoft. Especially when you calculate shipping costs and part/labor costs for 360 repairs on RROD. That doesn't include the huge fine they received from the ICC for releasing a product that they knew was defunct.

Bottomline, don't expect the 360 version to look anywhere near as good as the PS3 version. It's already been very clearly stated that it won't. It'll still be an awesome game if you don't own a PS3. So enjoy.

  • Paul

Xbox 360 supports full HD on some single player games, it doesn’t support it for all of it’s games (halo 3 is not 1080p)

I personally do not like that comparison video from Mike because “Wip3ou7″ the person that created the video is named after a Sony Produced franchise.

Also on the majority of multi-platform games the Xbox 360 has been proven to look better, this is not down to the consoles “ability” it is down to the Xbox 360 being easier to develop for.

This game was originally set to be a PS3 exclusive and so as far as multi-platform issues go, it is more likely to have better graphical quality on the PS3.

  • Bulb

What are you talking about? We haven't seen any gameplay on Versus so how would you know how the graphics looks compared to the cutscenes. As for the rest of you're comment. Stop trying to make the PS3 look better so that you can feel better about yourself.

  • jordan

It has also been confirmed by team blur, experts in bitmapping, graphics, etc that the 360 version is indeed 720p and that the original screenshots like the one shown above, were taken by a poorly developed camera or something like that. Although, the ps3 1080p cinematics can't be beaten..

first ive owned all systems since 1982.im a true gamer.there are 4 things that make a game good graphics storyline sound and controller layout.i play my xbox more than the ps3 notbecause xbox is better but because there online chat is good compared to ps3.if only the ps3had a simulare layout.ps3 graphics rock true 1080p but allot of games arnt 1080p andxbox does not like 1080p freezes up sometimes.tested on 18 machines and 5 diffrent games.best bet run it in 720p.

Well "they" (whoever they are) are wrong. Problem is, the 360 version is not going to be 720 eather. 560 is the mark they are looking at (which is substantially less than an old fashioned CRT tv set could handle)
Menu's, options, text clarity – all better on 1080. Graphics – well if they are fast moving the difference is minimal, but anything that the eye can focus on for more than a split second, and the difference is very noticable.
Go back to "they" and tell them to do some homework.

Wow, I honestly thought Final Fantasy was all about story and characters, not graphics and how it will look on a freaking TV. I h8 fanatics. Just buy the game and enjoy it. End of story.

  • bunta

you're obviously a big ps3 fan n i can understand y. great console, but stop bein such a prat about it. i hav a 360 and a ps3. play most of my games on 360 due to the controller and the better online service even if i do hav to pay which is a little guttin, but 40 quid a year isn't breaking the bank. lol. i appreciate the ps3's graphical power (wen i saw gean turismo 5 i realised how good it actually was) but not enough games abuse it, even after such a long time. hav to disagree on heavy rain though as it looks like a total yawn fest and the graphics aren't anything on other ps3 titles. the graphical difference in 360 to ps3 with most current games is negligable. certainly not as much as dvd to blu ray films. i'm happy with the few good exclusives on both consoles, but most good games are multi platform. and on fff 13, it'll be great watever you play it on.

  • bunta

so fed up with fan boys. i prefer my x box to my ps 3 cause its a more user friendly console online and uses a far better controller for me. everyone needs to get a grip. final fantasy is an awesome game and always lacked graphics except for the cutscenes. if its graphics tht you care about there's far better games out there. both x box and ps look amazing on my tv so i hav no complaints about either

  • bloode85

first of all ray that list of ps3 exclusive games u posted is sad.
second – ive played ff13 on both consoles and theres no friggin difference -.-
swapping discs just makes it feel like the olden days like in ff7,8 and 9. No one had a problem with swapping back then. i will say though that the 360's unreal engine games have demolished anything the ps3 can dish out. The only benefit i see to the ps3 is the free online capability.

  • minxamo

really? because on every comparison i have seen / heard of in multiplatform games, xbox is faster, and looks slightly better.

for final fantasy however, it will most likely look slightly better on ps3 since it will be uncompressed.

  • minxamo

1 more thing, wip3ou7′s video’s are the second biggest pile of fanboy bullshit i have ever seen, with the biggest pile being his lover, elpresador’s videos

i just wanted to see what people said and as i can see a lot of people agree that just enjoy the game and dont worry about stupid reviews. i dont care that the game will be a tid bit linear but o well the game is getting new features and ive been waiting for it since 2008!! anyways i dont mind 2-3 discs instead of buying it on the ps2 like i had to do for ffxii and ffx-2 so i dont mind. EVEN though i am gonna miss those hours wasted in towns and just fooling around in the game i want to enjoy something different everyone will need to experience something different inlife someday :D . and to the guy saying the 360 had so many hardware problems.. people have gotten used to that thats why microsoft fixes the 360 for free if u have had it for 3 years ever since the day u got it -either bought it or the day after the repair- so in my opinion it doesnt matter yes my first xbox broke down 3 times so i bought another one but it wont happen again cause i was reckless with it and didnt allow it to cool down.. anyways i can cut down on the game time u know, thanks again u guys now im not so afraid to get the game on tuesday

  • Boof

Man some fan boys on here love to rant. Me personally, I have both consoles. But will buy the game on the 360 simply because I find the controller to be much more comfortable. The multi disk idea is annoying, but much more appealing when you consider that the PS3 doesn't play PS2 games, but the 360 plays Xbox games. With this in mind my feeling is that I will be able to replay the game in future on the next generation console if I buy it for 360.

  • jomaorna

hey look for the benchmark videos , both games are exactly the same there are no differences at all, shame of you ps3, Square Enix did not put effort to show your power AGAIN
i bought the game for ps3 and my cousing for xbox 360 and there are no differnces.
(note: i have noth consols so i am fan of both platforms)

  • stevo56

There are many great games on 360 not just halo. Mass Effect 2 kicks the ass off anything on ps3, period. GTA IV episodes for me are more important than any sony exclusive game out there. Forza 3 kicks GT's ass (just play it and you will see). Xbox is the RPG king. Fable II is awesome 3 is on the way, ME1,2 and 3 in the end. What ever you say about halo it is class, and even more so Gears of war.

Most games look sharper on 360 (even dual format games)

Online is far better (you get what you pay for)

    Controller is better.

    NATAL is the future

PS3 has the advantage for long cutscene games due to the bluray and has some good games. But i would choose ME2 over Unchartered 2 or GOW any day.

  • fool

LOL ps3 does play ps2 games. do some research before you talk.

  • David

I have an Xbox 360 and a PS3. I usually buy multi-platform games for the PS3 (I got it first and have hella trophies) However, some online games are better to play on Xbox. The Xbox online gaming system (however expensive) is a bit superior to that of the PS3s. I like… love them both and I picked up FFXIII for the PS3, as stated, because that is where 99% of my trophies are. I could give two ****s about the slight difference in native resolution. the true test of graphics capabilities lies with the maker of the game. Some are geared more towards Xbox and some are towards PS3. I guess even the game developers are fan boys at heart… jeese. FTW, cant wait to get home a play some FFXIII !

  • J link

i own both concoles and perfered it on ps3 yea the blu ray does make it a longer load but i still enjoy the feel of having it on the ps3. alot of the ff gamers that own it here have it for the ps3 ( but thats cause of the low xbox selling rate here ) japan aside i think state side its gonna sell like hotcakes and yea its a good money making deal but didnt like the FF otaku prefer it on the playstation?

even the game engine Crystal Tools was specifically bulit for the ps2 then ported to the ps3….if the core is made for that system then shouldnt it run/look/feel better on the orginal system?

A technical analysis by DigitalFoundry of both versions of the game revealed that the Xbox 360 version runs at 576p, as opposed to the PlayStation 3's native resolution of 720p. Both versions can be upscaled to 1080p. orignally it was for the playstation….im glad that FF fans are growing but im sad to see it leave its system it was intended to…..but its a start to somthing new i guess…. but this is beating a dead horse anyway its allways gonna be prefered to certian people what is better, i could never decide soo ill get both.

  • Jlink

orginally its what system is better this is all it boils down to with no upscaling no special sound system that blows you away are a supreme tv that has amasing quality, which system has the better specs to run it? both are very close with slight differences but i assure you all that the japanese developers who made the game its self had no intentions on Orignally realeasing it for xbox they werent even thinking about it untill somone approached them with a deal seeing how FF11 did on the xbox and with its HD qualities they thought it would be a good move and went with it….and it was but this was a Playstation 2 title Exclusive at that….. its intended performance is for the playstation but all in all the xbox didnt dissapoint either its performing well and im actually enjoying it on the xbox. im still however playing it on the ps3 as well for me i allways thought that it did well on sony and has that same feel. im remmencing each time i play it on the ps3 but thas just me.

  • Talon

So fanboys, how was that nice network crash your ps3s cried about while I was playin my 360? And btw I have a ps3 as well, it sits under my dresser until they come out with something good, I play it for 15 hours beat the game and it goes right back under. However my shiny new FFXIII SE 360 is right next to my living room tv. *joy*

  • Quixtrike

I read it, and you have very valid points. But everyone knows this argument will never end. I have both and play a lot of games on either. Every time a multi-platform game is released I do my best to research and carefully choose the right system (shoulda picked up Darksiders on PS3…damn you vomit-inducing screen tearing!)

I will admit that I get a lot of entertainment out of these fanboy rage wars though.

  • BOXIM

PLAIN AND SIMPLE PS3 ONLY NEEDS ONE DISC TO PLAY THE GAME, SO WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THAT ACTUALLY HAS A CHOICE WILL BUY IT FOR THE DUMB HEXEDBOX 360 ANYWAY? LOL WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LOSE DISC ONE LIKE I DID FOR FINAL FANTASY 7?

  • Gamelvr

if you only buy systems for graphics and not the games themselves your an idiot if you like amazing graphics go watch a movie or play a game on a 5k$ computer system ff13 is gonna be awesome no matter if its on ps3 or 360 and im not biased i have ps3 and my bro has 360 both systems have amazing games and i wouldnt choose one over the other because of a OMG U CANT SEE THE SWEAT ON THAT DUDES SACK THESE GRAPHICS SUCK ASS

  • RanDiesel

All i have to say is I love PS3 but I have a 360, so as long as I'm not missing a part of the game by not playing on PS3 then who really cares about any other thing like compressed audio and video. Square Enix made FF13 look F'n incredible i've never seen a better looking game. People need to quit fighting about small insignificant little details and just enjoy the best looking game in the greatest series of all time period.

  • RanDiesel

Dude I'm about as hardcore as they come when it comes to gaming I play them all till the end. I believe the Definition of a HARDCORE gamer is someone who appreciates the games for what they are, not pick them apart and cry about whats compressed on this one or better looking on that one who cares. I'm a hardcore gamer and I'll play either one because i LOVE PLAYING period. If your a hardcore gamer or claim to be then play and love all things PS3 or 360, even wii they are all awesome period:)

  • 360_user

Then you shouldve been more careful, idiot!

  • wired420

I hate to tell you about your wonderfully made Ps3 dude, and I hate to toot my own horn as well (Well maybe not) but I work at a Game Stop. We had to send, not one, not two, not three, but eight PS3's back the second day they were out due to overheating. Not to mention we went through around 5 demo units in the first week that all overheated hanging in a fully ventilated basket with its own fans below the monitor. So the fact that you say only xbox released bum systems. You better go back and look at all the overheating stories for PS3 as well bud.

Stop typing in caps, and put down the drugs, maybe then you won't be such a slob that you can lose a disc… Yes a six inch piece of plastic in your mess of a house?

for every one who thinks blu-ray read speed is slower than dvd
12x dvd speed 15.85MB/s xbox 360 read speed
    2x blu-ray 72MB/s ps3 read speed

not anymore sony cut BC to cut cost
and to boof "With this in mind my feeling is that I will be able to replay the game in future on the next generation console if I buy it for 360." PS2 played PS1 games but PS3 no longer has BC so who's to say microsoft won't go the same route and make the next xbox not play 360 games.

    you're an idiot…

  • bob

you guys are crazy they cant make a game it 1080p cuz of the frame rate and i make games for a small company we can make them to support 1080 but we cant make them to run in 1080 pluss on the 360 it just upscales thats about it… so if you want a high def game its 720p and it can support 1080 but its not designd with 1080.. so both system are about the same its just that you cant really get high def on a dvd disc it will always be upscaled…

  • daniel wetekam

Nice network crash? hmmmmm, sony fixed it in less than 24 hrs, OVER THE NETWORK NO WARRANTY WORK NEEDED!!!!! I ended up getting 3 xboxes because of the RROD, guess what, i dont have an xbox anymore, because those 3 i had to pay shipping costs on AND it took about 8 weeks of shipping to get them back. So dont even compare the 2 systems when it comes to hardware problems you frikkin IDIOT.

The PS3 version of this game looks a little better, but doesn't blow the XBOX version away. I'm more vested into the 360 when it comes to cross platform titles because of I like my Xbox Live account over the trophies system.

The argument that the 360 has been pushed to it's limits has been made since it's release. With technology and processes becoming more efficient by the day, developers will learn to adapt to the technology made available. PS2 is a perfect example of how given enough time developers can still produce great titles for the system and aren't limited.

Each console has their great exclusive titles, just enjoy gaming systems for what they bring. I bought every one of them so I could enjoy the best each system has to offer.

Xbox has a better online integration and multi-player experience, whereas the PS3 has Bluray, and the Wii offers Mario. I'm sure this can be expanded but I don't think one system is superior to other.

  • The_Boy

Does it really matter? It’s the same game, i have it on both consoles and they are both better than each others version in their own way. The PS3 version may well be uncompressed and all but in my opinion it plays better on the 360. Loading times are pretty much no existant on the 360 anyway. It’s just a matter of preference of console at the end of the day!

  • Lolmeow

    I bet you use mac…

  • SubtleStyle

I created an account just so I could say Gamelvr put it best. Haha.

You should all go out and get Girlfriends, MY GOD!!! I cannot believe how nerdy some people are…

I own both PS3 and Xbox 360. I have to say buy ff13 on PS3 the graphics are better the sound quality is better everything is better on the PS3. Also the 360 has more than 1 disk. Thats just rubbish.
    I would give ff13 on PS3 9/10 and give 7/10 for Xbox.
So definitely get the game on PS3. It's the best console out there anyway.

  • £60

Yeah absolutely agree with this, some right sad fuckers on here talking shit and just lapping up being a Sony Fanboy, actually sit there and play the fucking game instead of sitting inches away from your stupid tv's and scrutinising crap that does'nt exist.

I use a 4 year old Samsung Plasma and the game looks fine,TWATS

get over it! who cares if its 1 disc or 1 or more disc!? [ppl say what happens if u lose 1 of the disc, well ur not responsible enough to put it on the case?] and the graphics, who cares! ppl who created the games just give fun to us and allowing ppl who bought ps3… xbox whatsoever to get the game. i mean even if ps3 is HD and better graphics, its not like 360 version have so much difference like its graphic is resident evil 4 for pc.. whatever the console brings, embrace it, doesnt matter whatever console is best, when it matters is having fun with it
