Verizon Motorola Droid 2.0.1 Update Available: List of Fixes

By: Peter Chubb | December 8, 2009 | 4 Comments

A few days ago we reported that the Motorola Droid would be getting an OTA Update soon, we have learned that Verizon have now made 2.0.1 update available to retail handset. Most owners will then begin to see this much needed update within a few days, much better than the estimated few weeks that we first thought.

For those who have yet to see this update, then head over to Verizon where they have posted instructions about the new update as well as all the benefits that come with it. The first thing that will see an improvement with the 2.0.1 update is improved stability.

This is seen as the main feature but there are other, just important updates, such as a better camera, battery, voicemail and call quality. Add all these together and the Motorola Droid becomes a much better handset with this one simple update.

These are not the greatest feature updates but more than enough to tide you over for the major update that users are hoping for. For those owners of a Verizon Motorola Droid, keep an eye on your handset today as you could get a nice little treat.

If you do receive the update, then please let us know what you think of the new improved features. For more details, visit Engadget.

I downloaded/installed the software and it crashed my phone. After many hours with tech support we managed to get everything back up and going except the voice mail. When the dust settled and the smoke cleared I left my local verizon location with a replacement phone. Now I am a little leery about installing the update on the replacement phone.

This article, which has “List of Fixes” in the title, would be improved if it had… a list of fixes. The “Verizon has posted a list” reference is not helpful, nor is the link to the even older Engadget article. Would it be possible to update this article to at least include a link to any kind of official (and complete) list of issues addressed by 2.0.1?
