How Zhu Zhu Pets Recall Could Affect Christmas

Each Christmas there is a hot craze, for 2009 it will be the Zhu Zhu Pets (aka Go Go Hamsters). However, there is a downside to how popular these furry toys are, they are made cheap and in huge batches because of how popular they are. As you would expect these hamsters have been made in China and are now facing the possibility of a recall.
Millions of these toy pet hamsters are being flown to the U.S., UK and other countries from China to try and keep up with the huge demand. But we have to question at what cost. It is no secret that China cuts corners when it comes to mass production and the news that these Zhu Zhu Pets could contain toxic metals could spoil Christmas for children and parents.
It is not a nice prospect, spending hours locating a Zhu Zhu Pet, watching your child open it up on Christmas Day only to learn that the toy has to go back. Then again try explaining to your child that their toy hamster had to be sent away, that is a conversation that I do not want to have.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission are now conducting tests on these toy hamsters to see if they pose any sort of hazard. If they do, then this will certainly be one of the worst Christmases for millions of kids around the world.
