Twitter’s new beta mobile web interface
By: Peter Chubb | December 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentThere is a new beta version of Twitter mobile, which as you know can be accessed from your handset by visiting http://mobile.twitter.com. This new web client has been built from scratch using their very own API; this is according to Twitter’s Leland Rechis.
The new Twitter mobile website will perform much better when used with Webkit browsers, Blackberry and Microsoft handsets will have to wait a little longer, only until Twitter can finetune its service. For those of you who used to visit m.twitter.com, this location is no longer in use.
This is just the start says Rechis, he said, “We look forward to sharing more cool things with you soon.” To fill the gap left by the original web client, ITProPortal.com has said that a number of third party applications have popped up; this is something that Twitter wants to address.
The sad fact is, some of these third party providers are charging for this service, and are earning themselves a small fortune in the process. Twitter have arranged for a number of cell phone carriers in the UK to offer this service for free.
