NORAD Santa Tracker from your car in 2009

For Years NORAD has been tracking Santa along his journey on Christmas Eve so that kids can see how close the big guy is to them, this year things will be a little different. The North American Aerospace Defense Command are now offering a number of news ways for you to track Santa.

Santa Tracker for 2009 will now embrace the social networking and video sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and more. NORAD has also begun a new partnership with OnStar so car GPS systems can also get an update on Santa.

This new feature will not begin until December 24, 2009, so there is no chance of seeing the big guy in the red suit just yet. Cnet News is disappointed as there will be no tie-ins with other events such as “Santacon” or “Santarchy, now that would have been fun.

We are not certain if NORAD will share any of their data with the GPS company, but no matter what happens it will be great fun for the kids to watch if you are on a long journey to visit family over the holidays.
