It had been speculated during last week. but we can now confirm that Apple has completed the purchase of online streaming service Lala – a company based in Palo Alto, California.
As reported from Apple Insider, full details of the takeover have not been released by either Apple or Lala yet, but we expect an official announcement to take place sometime this week.
If you didn’t know already, Lala is an online service which allows users to stream any song once, from Lala’s collection of about 8 million songs. It then gives customers options for full song download for 79 cents (MP3 format) or unlimited streaming at 10 cents per song.
It is thought that Apple are keen on integrating the service into their iTunes software, as well as offering up the Lala service on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
What do you think of this move? We’ll update you with full details as we hear of them.
