It appears that when Mass Effect 2 finally launches (29th January 2010) it will be split onto two discs, from what we can tell this will be the case for the Xbox 360 version and PC version.
BioWare’s reasoning for this is said to be because “You cannot fit this much awesome on one disc,”, this was stated by BioWare’s Community Coordinator Chris Priestly on the BioWare forums.
This is particularly surprising as the original Mass Effect was not exactly lacking in content, therefore it would seem that the sequel is going to be even more extensive.
On the forums Priestly also stated that “Even though there is a disc swap, it occurs at a carefully planned place in the game (that does not interfere with gameplay) and is done once. You do not swap back and forth. 1 swap and then done.”
