Motorola CLIQ: Updates released should keep users happy

By: Alan Ng | December 3, 2009 | 1 Comment

We have some good news for owners of the Motorola CLIQ now, as an OTA update has now been released for the phone, adding some very useful changes and probably fixing some issues that had left owners frustrated over.

As reported from BGR, the update will now bring the firmware version to 1.1.31 and the CLIQ still runs on Android 1.5, before you ask.

Confirmed changes include improved battery life, improved Bluetooth and touchscreen sensitivity has also been improved too, which is good.

Until we see the official change log, those are the only confirmed changes in the update, let us know if you have spotted anything else we should know about.

This update did not make users happy. Users are wanting the Android 2.0 pushed to the phones, or at the very minimum Android 1.6. This is mainly due to the fact that developers are not supporting Android 1.5 anymore, and so all of the apps in the app store are slowly disappearing from everyones phones. You cant even download any version of Google Maps anymore if your copy messes up and you download a new copy. And some apps if you download the newest version, it will not work on 1.5 and there is no way to go back to your original version, so you just lose use of the application forever. Actually even more then receiving the actual update, users just want an offical announcement from Motorola on if there will ever be an Android update to the phone. Motorola refuses to comment on the situation so far. As you can see from the over 30,000 views in this thread on Motorolas forums, there are many upset users: https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/16044?tstart=0
