LA Auto Show: 2011 Hyundai Sonata in regular, turbo and hybrid
By: Peter Chubb | December 3, 2009 | Leave a CommentWhen it comes to the most popular vehicles in the U.S., the mid-size family sedan, two cars have reined supreme, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. However, a new car has been unveiled at the 2009 LA Auto Show, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Older versions of this car have tried to take on the two titans above, so what makes the 2011 model any different.
Autoblog say that the new model is all about fuel-efficiency, something that most Americans are very concerned about. There are three types of power units for the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata, regular, turbo and hybrid.
Looking at the regular engine, the 3.3-liter V6 engine is no more, this has been replaced by a choice of three four-cylinder engines, and one example of this is the 2.4-liter Gasoline Direct-Injection, which produces 198hp.
If this is not enough power for you, then Hyundai are to introduce a turbocharged version of the above engine. This offers more power but will not affect fuel- efficiency as much as you would think.
The third version will be a hybrid based on Hyundai’s Blue Drive technology. This system uses lithium polymer technology instead of the standard nickel hydride. Prices of the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata start from $20,000 when they go on sale in January 2010. Fore more details, visit Autoblog.
