It has been a while since we have spoken about Intel’s upcoming Pine Trail platform, however with the released due in Q1 2010 we thought we would inform you of some more details regarding the platform.

It is thought that next-gen Atom chips using the Pine Trail platform will not only be smaller than their predecessors but they will also consume less power, Pine Trail M chips are said to consume around 20% less power than current Atom chips.

Obviously this lower power consumption is great for mobile devices, as battery life and efficiency are paramount with netbooks etc.
