Norad Santa Tracker 2009: Countdown Starts
By: Peter Chubb | December 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe time has begun, Santa is now getting ready for his long journey around the world and kid’s will want to know where he will be on Christmas Eve. Each year Norad tracks Santa with their Santa Tracker system and they have now begun the countdown; we have just 22 days to go.
Norad have been tracking Santa for more than 50 years, well them and their predecessor, Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD). Back then tracking Santa was a tough job, but technology has move on since. Read more on the history of this here.
Norad track Santa by using the North Warning System, the big guy in the red suit can be tracked no matter where he is from the moment that he leaves the North Pole. Tracking the heat from Rudolph’s nose using an infrared heat sensor does this.
Visit the Norad Santa Tracker 2009 website for constant updates of what is going on in the North Pole. Event though Santa will not be tracked just yet, there is plenty to do when you visit the website, such as fun games for kid’s.
