More and more shoppers are beginning to shop online, with Cyber Monday 2009 set to be the busiest online shopping day of the year. This special event always falls on the first Monday after Black Friday, but with it comes safety issues, so you need to stay safe.
The worst thing that you can do in the build up to Christmas is go to your local mall; it will be so busy that you will have a headache just trying to park. Before you even consider shopping online on Cyber Monday PC Mag thought that they would offer a few tips.
There are often a ton of emails that offer great deals on products; you may think that these are safe to click on so that you can look at that item. However, that will be when all your trouble starts, as these can often have viruses and spyware programs within the message.
If you do not know that person who sent you the email then do not open it, it will be safer for you to put it in the trash. Also, if you have an attachment from a friend, make certain that it was your friend who sent it and ask what is in the file.
If you have a message from your bank or Pay Pal and it asks for you to update your account do not click any link in the email. Te best thing is to go direct to their site and then login, if they want you to change any details you will then be asked from the control panel.
The most important piece of advice is to get an up-to-date antivirus program, such as Norton and Spyware Doctor. For more information, visit www.pcmag.com
